Credit the Cavs for fighting hard till the end, had they been full healthy this series likely goes 7. Its going to be interesting to see if this is the summer that Mitchell asks out of Cleveland, Windhorst is already speculating that he may have already played his final game in a Cavs jersey. I think that thought process is way premature.
Hopefully that NY-Indy series goes the full 7 and gives Boston & Kristaps Porzingis an additional 5-6 days before the ECFs start up. He's been practicing lightly and getting him back would be huge,
37yr old Big Al deserves some type of lifetime achievement award or maybe just the game ball after tonight's performance, He carried the team on both ends tonight with 22pts/ 15reb (7oreb)/ 5 assists/ 4 stocks and 6 made threes.
There are reports out today that NBC pretty much beat out TNT for the leagues media rights for the foreseeable future which means that Inside the NBA with Shaq,Barkley,Kenny Smith & Ernie Johnson will be ending soon.
Tell me where we'll be able to catch up on all of the latest happenings around the NBA while also watching Charles Barkley marinate full sized chickens on a grill using an actual mop covered in BBQ sauce. Then minutes later seeing Chuck getting ready to throw a bucket of that same BBQ sauce at Shaq. its a sad day in the NBA. 👎😔
I'm just glad the NBA is scheduling one game a night at this point so us east coasters don't have to stay up late to catch the WC games. With NY @Indy tonight, OKC @Dallas tomorrow night and Minnesota @Denver for a G7 should bring some exciting basketball this weekend and the best part is Boston didn't play around with their food for once so they get to sit back & watch while resting up. 😉
The Thunder & Wolves both have had fantastic seasons surprising literally everyone with how well they've played but I think the Luka/Kyrie & Joker/Murray duos have been battle tested and carry their teams to wins.
The Knicks-Pacers series could see a G7 come Sunday afternoon if Indy can get the job done tonight at home. if that happens all I know is TNT better have Reggie Miller calling G7 in NY.
Indy vs Boston should be fast paced high scoring games. I think one matchup to watch will be Jaylen Brown vs Pascal Siakam, Brown shutdown Siakam down on offense over a 7 game series when Boston/Toronto met in the playoffs that season after the Raptors won the Chip. It would be nice to hopefully get Porzingis back by G3.
In March I made 4 bets to win the finals. Boston,Denver, Minnesota, and Dallas. So I am alive. Only lose $ if Boston wins. That was my saver to at least cushion the losing bets if the other 3 lost.
Successful transactions:Tookybandit. "Everyone is equal, some are more equal than others".
i wonder which East team Larry Bird will be rooting for lol, probably Indy but I bet that there will be plenty of playing/coaching highlights of the Legend shown throughout that series by both arenas.
Since I grew up in Denver in the 1950's, 1960's and 1970's; and since my exposure to pro basketball (I attended my first game at 13 years of age in 1969) was watching ABA teams play the Denver Rockets,............................ I will announce to the forums that I would like to see Indiana (one of 4 ABA teams that joined the NBA in the 1976 merger of the ABA and NBA) win the title this year.
The Spurs and Nuggets have won NBA titles; and the Nets and Pacers have played in the Finals. It is time for the Pacers to get a ring and trophy.
Long live the ABA (it was a joy to watch ABA Teams play).
i'm just thankful that there's some new blood still alive as we head toward June
i was so sick of LeBron to begin with, and now we have his son -- who averaged less than 5 PPG on 37%, 27% and 67% shooting -- sabotaging the draft conversation. is this real life? this kid's best trait is being LBJ's son, yet unfathomably there's murmuring of teams considering him in the 1st round for no other plausible reason than sheer nepotism in the hopes that his dad will make the move to join him
is this nauseating scenario not incredibly bush league to anyone else? i'm so ready for LeBron to make like Tom and cruise on out of here for good
edit: on second thought, i hope LA drafts Bronny. c'mon, pull down your pants take a leak on your draft capital at #17. i'd love nothing more than to know that LeBron has zero chance of winning another title before next season even starts
I think that over the past month or so where the NBA prospects starting amping up for the combine and the draft, Lebron & his son have both been given honest opinions on where he stands as a draft prospect and they really weren't favorable reviews. As of right now he's projected as an undersized hustle guard that's a below average 3pt shooter and average playmaker at best. The NCAAM doesn't use the Per 36 Minutes stat that the NBA uses, they have use Per 40 Minutes and Bronny's statline is 10/5/4/1 w/26% from three/67% from the FT line over 40mins played.
I could almost see two different scenarios where he gets drafted; One is he gets picked by either the Cavs or Lakers, regardless of his father possibly then signing with that team, LA is obvious because his father would be one of his coaches and Cleveland as a solid to Lebron having brought them a title. The Cavs have been pretty good in recent years slowly developing players while while either with the team itself or thru their G League affiliate.
Second scenario would be similar to the Cavs without Lebron getting a solid from the owner, i could see a few teams with a crap ton of draft picks in both rounds saying What the hell with one of their later picks, maybe some of Dad's athleticism rubbed off on him and the mental part of the game develops over time. Maybe a team like OKC, SA or Utah, who all own many future 1sts&2nds, takes a chance on him. I honestly see most of the league just passing on him.
If I was a teenager who plays basketball and wants to do so for a living as an adult I would not want to be the son of LeBron James.
Could you imagine the stuff you would have to put up with???? Even if you had a great father-son relationship (with LBJ not being over the top demanding, like LaVar Ball appeared to be), the pressure of living up to and/or exceeding your father's career; and facing the criticism of other players, coaches and fans if you did not would be a major drag on the quality of your life and mental health.
Especially if you and your dad played in the NBA at the same time.
i agree with both of you and i really don't blame Bronny for any of this. This all comes down to who his father is and the amount of people trying to curry favor with Lebron. They've purposely overrated this kid to the point he'll never be able to just go play basketball like any other prospect, we'll see soon enough how it all plays out in just about 5 weeks.
There's nothing like the roller coaster ride that is being a Celtics fan during one of their late postseason playoffs run lol. 🤣
My entire neighborhood heard me celebrating that JB three putting it into OT then seeing Tatum drop 10 in OT and it was game! They both made up for those god awful turnovers earlier where they each just handed the ball right to the defender in front of them.
I cannot recall the last time that I've seen a team just give away a big game like the Pacers did last night.
It wasn't as bad as Isiah Thomas inbounding against the Celtics for Bird to steal and pass to DJ for the layup and win back in the 1980s but it wasn't that far off.
I think the bulk of that loss goes to Carlisle, the Pacers head coach. #1 - You need to call a timeout and put the ball on the other side of the court, making it much easier to inbound the pass. #2 - ran a terrible inbounds play that they run was terrible with players running sideways and someone needed to come to the ball. #3 - the guy inbounding the ball needs to have it drilled into his head by the coach don't inbound it unless you're 100% sure it's going to be caught - just call a timeout. Plus, the guy that couldn't get the pass clearly touched the ball and should have just let it go #4 - when you're up by 3, you got to foul and not even let a 3-point shot be put up.
All said, the Celts player hit an improbable 3 - it looked like he kissed it off the backboard from the side - so credit to him but it shouldn't have got to that point.
What a terrible "L" for Indiana - I don't think they recover from that. Looks like there's still some Leprechaun Luck still in the "new" Garden...
Jaylen Brown definitely earned a large chunk of that 300M contract during that final 10 seconds, first on forcing the turnover with his defense then hitting the game tying three seconds later.
I heard on the radio that it was the first time a team was up by at least 3 points with less than 10 seconds to go AND had possession of the ball since 1998 -- a once in a generation victory.
if this was any prospect not named Bronny James the outlook would be......undrafted.......mired in the developmental league.........and perhaps, if he's extremely fortunate, a quasi-career overseas
That Bronny thing almost must happen though right? It should be a NBA ratings boom. First and foremost this is a business. Totally agree on the talent issue though.
Cleveland is looking for a new head coach after firing JB Bickerstaff. I'm not sure of who's available but Boston assistant Sam Cassell should be a name considered. He's won multiple rings as a player, won another as an assistant to Doc Rivers back when the C's won the chip in 2008 and he's had a pretty good success rate in helping to develop young guards in John Wall, Bradley Beal, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Tyrese Maxey and more recently Derrick White & Payton Pritchard. He might be the perfect coach to get the most out of Darius Garland.
2 down, 2 to go. You can't tell me that Jaylen Brown wasn't a bit PO'd that he didn't make an All-NBA team after going off for 40. Hopefully Haliburton & Kornet both come back for G3.
I still think that the Wolves got some fight left in them. We've already seen them go beast mode on the road to go ahead in that last series but they also had to win b2b games once they went down 3-2.
If it ends up being Boston-Dallas in the Finals that would make for one hell of a series. Boston would have two ALL-Defense guards in White & Jrue to throw out Kyrie and two elite wing defenders in Tatum & Brown to throw at Luka.
Can't go there yet though when both teams still need two more wins each.
G3 turned out to be a great overall game from both teams. i think Boston was really missing the paint protection from Porzingis & Kornet over that first half yet the team stepped up their interior D after halftime.
Indy will come out with this same type of intensity for G4 and try to keep the series going, its going to be interesting to see if the C's bring KP back for that game. I'm all for it even if its just for short minutes to get some of the kinks out.
Wonder if/when Porzingis returns if the current successful run with the chemistry will be impeded. Sometimes it takes a returning player from a layoff awhile to adjust. Plus to get the rust off.

I think he should fit right in once he's back. He had stretches throughout the season where he was out and usually the only real issue once he came back was that first game, his 3pt shot was usually off. As far as fitting in on offense, he'll either be out past the 3pt line drawing out the opposing big or he'll be stationed just inside the FT line when he has a mismatch and at that point he usually shooting FTs. Defensively, he'll usually start out on the opposing big but end up on the the worst shooter so he can roam the paint to block shots.
Can't do much about the rest but play. Boston has a habit of holding injured players out much longer than needed to recover because the rest of the roster can usually win a high percentage of games without him. With roughly 10 days off between games I'm sure the coaching staff has been ramping up his court time during practice.
I got Minnesota winning G5 tonight at home. if they do win its going to be a ton of pressure on Dallas to win G6 in Dallas, if not Minnesota will have a chance to complete the comeback at home for G7. Gotta win tonight though to get there.

Denver blown out by 30 plus. Watch next game they will be favored by 6-8. Aah the NBA.
I can’t believe that game. Was looking forward to it and turns into a huge disappointment.
What a blowout! 😩
Guess I’ll watch some Oiler hockey

Indy & Minnesota sure know how to blow a 2nd half lead - oomph!

This was posted on IG and there’s no mention on whether it’s real or not. Definitely one of the coolest autograph ideas ever.
