This is the most beautiful rainbow toned Flying Eagle Cent I've ever seen. You rarely see these toned nicely. I would love to know the grade, auction, date it sold, and final hammer if you know it.
That is a Large Letters- High Leaves variety.
This is the Low Leaves variety. Makes for a lovely bookend pair in my collection. The TruView of the High Leaves looks nicer, but in hand I prefer the Low Leaves.
Some refer to overgraded slabs as Coffins. I like to think of them as Happy Coins.

This is not my coin. It is available on Ebay right now for $9,999.99. The date/mint is very common; I own a 67+ purchased for $200 (and I overpaid), while Heritage sold a 68 in 2020 for $380 (and their website says it was resold in September 2021 for $544). PCGS has graded 14 copies in 68. PCGS has graded 299 copies of the 1914-A mark, the most of any date/mint combination of all the German Empire marks.
But the dealer who owns this coin is correct: this is the single finest German Empire mark to be graded by PCGS (NGC has 2 in 68+). To my eyes, it really is gorgeous...
In 2013, I lot viewed the coins in the Cardinal auction. The 1794 Dollar deservedly got the attention, but the half-disme is stunning. Difficult to image:

Hard to argue with just about any coin from what I consider to be the “golden age” of US coin design, the early 20th century… but if I HAD to pick one, it would be the $2.50 Pan Pac…. And sadly, this jaw dropping beauty is not mine:

Yeah… it’s just that I don’t care for heavily toned silver - it’s just not attractive to me. I’ll go for luster first and absence of marks second. It’s a personal preference thing.
