    I'm blown away by all the high grade guesses, maybe because I'm not a paying member to PCGS they don't let me see the new up to date version of photograde??

    Maybe the Coinfacts XF45 might help. The wear pattern on the reverse is what hung me up... I'll post pics of my coin this evening...

    The obverse looks like a VF-35 with no pazzaze. The reverse looks like VF-25 with the same problem. I guess you would call it VF-30, but it wouldn't be for me. The coin appears to have been cleaned with baking soda years ago.

    I guess some people might be wondering why I am not more enthusiastic about this coin. Here is a piece that is graded VF-35 graded from the same era.

    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    I was sitting with @Ikenefic when he bought this nice Draped Bust half for his type set. It's not fair for me to GTG! If you ever get a chance check out the dealer he purchased it from David N. Johnson. He's got a great eye for quality.

    David is a good guy.
    He used to post on the forum as 1798Collector. Back then he was primarily an EAC dealer, and was pretty tight with Tom Reynolds. He has since moved into many other series and usually has a great selection of better slabbed material.

    The “True View” image did this piece no favors. The full slab photos looks like a piece with envelope friction on the high points, which is not the best eye appeal look, but better than the True View. The second Draped Bust, Large Eagle half dollar I had as a young collector looked like this. The first one I had a hole in it, but had original surfaces. I paid $4.50 for it and sold it for $6.50 a few years later.
