Farewell and best of luck

I'm bidding a farewell to my account because I can read as a guest to keep abreast of what people are up to and a new chapter to life is where I am taking my focus. My kids are leaving the nest this fall. One will turn 16 in May and is moving out of state on a full ride merit opportunity. We are also expanding our garage for a couple car projects I am starting and planning to do some major house additions/renovations. I sold 50% of what I had hoped to get rid of and need a long PAUSE to focus on my job and especially my family. My dad is going to probably kick the bucket soon. My mom put him in a VA home a few days before Christmas without telling my siblings or I.

It has been an eye opening experience to see fascinating collections and learn a snippet of what the collecting world is doing. Much appreciation for people's time to answer my questions and sorry for the lost time where I went down rabbit holes or provided no value.

I know PSA answered the call with some grading specials last year what seemed to be in response to forum members request. It was cool to see a response to what the community requested.

Best of luck to everyone's endeavors. To those looking to profit then I wish you good fortune and hope Mr. Cash will be in the back of your head singing know when to hold 'em and know when to fold 'em.

Lastly, time will tell what the PSA acquisition of SGC will produce. There is great potential for all and ideally Nat/Ryan will strive for a WIN(investors)-Win(employees)-win(customers) and knock it out of the park.

    I suggest spending as much time with your Dad as you can, my father passed way too young. I did get to spend time with him in his last year and am very glad I did.

    My father was diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer - Doctors gave him six months
    He was gone in six weeks -
    And the last two, he was so doped up on morphine he couldn't even communicate.
    I echo the comments... Spend as much time as you can.
    I regret missed opportunities to just talk to him.

    I am so sorry, Steve, A similar thing happened to me. My mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and was gone 3 weeks after the diagnosis. The 3rd week she was not able to communicate. I missed a lot of opportunities to spend time with her. Fortunately I still have my Dad, and visit him every chance I get.

    are you actually deleting your profile? I would keep it even if you don't plan to post. I've been here since 2001 and my participation has come and gone but I always kept my account active.

    at least we will know who you are when you come back!

    I will miss your contributions. Family is most important…lost my parents-in-laws late last year…it was difficult. Good luck on your new hobby!

    We're dealing with similar issues with my wife's parents. Just got guardianship and have to move them into assisted living. I understand how horrible and time consuming that can be. Best of luck on your endeavors and enjoy them while you can.

    Totally understand. 2023/24 has been a tumultuous time span in my life and with my advancing age I'm seeing the end of my collecting life fast approaching. Good health, but none of my kids are interested, and like many of you, I have WAY too much stuff. I suggest reading the Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning...I'm already thinking of that box...

    Good luck. Sounds like you are prioritizing those things most important in your life. Hope your projects go smoothly and your father surprises with some improved health or comes to a comfortable end if that is what will be.
