    My first thought was wrapping machine damage, but I'm not really confident in that answer.

    The wrapping machine damage that I am talking about is the machine that wraps $10 face into a paper wrapped roll. What you are showing is damage from the packaging machine at the mint. It has been argued by some that this is a mint error since it happened at the mint. However, it is not a mint error because it happened after the coin was "made".

    Yes, a kind of hit, but IMHO abrasive. I love your photos, show very clear the lines which are not consistent. Those abrasions lines are never seen on Mint components. IMHO the abrasion come from outsite of the coin. Like this dispach the material versus the interior of the coin.

    Also if we look to the tonning, I can see in my oppinion was done after the coin tonned. The colors of the lines are different.
    Also we can see that the scratches are post Mint (letters). Excelet photos.

    Without factoring in toning, the obverse by itself is a 64 and the reverse, excluding the edge, would not drag it down any further, IMO.

    Don’t try and tell me this is some kind of mint error because I always toss these back especially after being told here on this here forum that that is nothing more than parking lot damage.

    Well once again the forum never fails to amaze me.
    I honestly didn't think anyone would get this one right but 4 people did.
    The coin clearly has PMD on the reverse and a rim bump on the obverse, I was expecting everyone to say Unc Details.
    Only one person made mention of AT.
    The coin is straight graded as a MS-66 :o

    Congrats to all that guessed MS-66!

    I have a hard time understanding how that large of an area of PMD could be overlooked by PCGS.

    So pcgs price guide is $32, seller wants $750. No reason to submit this under the guarantee because isn’t the max payout pcgs will give is their priceguide value? This is a lose/lose for anyone involved with this coin.

    That's a good question. When colorful toning is involved though, you can throw price guides out the window. I'm not sure how PCGS would handle valuation of an attractively toned coin, let alone one with PMD like this. I think if you purchase this and provided the receipt they would reimburse the amount paid if you it was a legitimate arm's length transaction.

    Well, I don’t know if I would quite say that. It has been a ‘teaching moment’ for everyone involved in this thread as a GTG for this particular coin. So, really we were involved with the coin and it didn’t cost us anything.😉😂
