1975D/1961 Cooper Penny

Options

Ok Guys I need you to bear with me on this one. We all know it’s unlikely that a coin with two date can be a mint error and we have looked at this coin before but it’s not just the dates that are doubled.
Keep an open mind and take a peek at this penny one more time for me and give me your feedback

It’s not just the dates. Look how there seems to be the exact same distance between the dates and his shirt. And if you rotate the coin to where the 1961 is in the right position there is a lighter distortion at the top of the coin where Lincoln’s head would be

The dates, the shirt and the head all line up twice. All you have to do is rotate the coin. I just can’t see how someone could have duplicated Lincoln’s shirt right next to the 1961 that exactly.

That’s why I ask you. You guys are the “Pros” at this

You were told in your previous thread about this coin, how it ended up like that. Please explain how it could have occurred at the Mint.

Please show a photo of the reverse.
edited: Ah, now I see the reverse in the previous thread, linked in the next comment. Yes, it's odd to have such an effect on one side and not the other. And as in the previous thread, the effect of the supposed 1975-D strike on the 1961 obverse doesn't look realistic. As everyone else is saying, it's most likely a fake.

    Been there already....

It's not a matter of "keeping an open mind", it's a matter of understanding the minting process.

It doesn’t really matter how that cent was produced, the only thing that matters is that it
could not have happened when the coin was struck which eliminates that it is an error.

Since you don’t want to accept the views from the knowledgeable people on this forum from the two threads you posted. I suggest you spend the money and send it in to our host. Maybe you will believe them when it comes back in a body bag and you are out $50 or so.

Of course the second image is correct. But WHY ISN'T THERE A SECOND ROTATED IMAGE ON THE REVERSE?

The only way that can happen at the Mint is for a 1961 coin to get mixed with the planchets. But then the 1975 overstrike should have done 2 things that ARE NOT PRESENT ON YOUR COIN:

    1. Flattening and near obliteration of the 1961 coin elements.
    2. A second, rotated image of the 1975 reverse.

It is really you who needs to keep an open mind. You've decided it must be an error and no matter how many people explain that it can't be, and WHY it can't be, you cling to that belief.

With almost 2 years apart, same coin.

You has one of the most low level try to countrafeit coins.

If you look at the history of strikings you can see this PMD. 1961 date is Phill strike on bronze and 1975D is Denver strike on Brass Gilden. In any case this could be happened.

Just understand you has an Magician coin or the low level try for an counterfeit. I go more with Magician coin as per your photos.

Hope you understand and accept the reality. If not seng to our host (PCGS)

    Photoshop ?
What are the indicators ? On the other hand, nevermind that question.
The reverse is missing which could tell the tail.
    Huh ?

Who said anything about Photoshop? I don't doubt it's a real picture of a fake error.

This has every appearance of a coin struck with false dies. Even if that isn't exactly what happened, there's no chance it's a real error. A picture of the reverse will not change that answer.

    A similar example

I owe each of you an apology. You had already checked this coin so I shouldn’t have wasted your time by submitting it twice. It won’t happen again-

Yeah, just don't post it a third time. :D

No need to throw it in the trash, you may be able to learn from it the more you develop an eye for coins. ;)
And don't keep hoping it's something it's not.

Most magicians coins are hollowed out or dual denomination like penny on one side and dime on the other. ;)
I would love to hear how this is a magicians coin and how the trick works. ;)
I fear I will not understand your explanation and I don't think Google translate will help either. :D

It’s a cool coin, even if it’s not a ‘mint error’ doesn’t mean it isn’t a cool coin :) if you would like to know absolutely, then definitely send it in to PCGS,

or you could just put it in some kind of holder and make a necklace out of it —

Maybe it’s your lucky coin ❤️
