The "best counterfeit coins in my collection" are, obviously, the ones I don't know are counterfeit - they've fooled everybody. I've got about 14,500 coins in my collection and only 41 of them are currently flagged as reproduction/counterfeit. The probability that I have no other counterfeit coins whatsoever in a collection that large is infinitesimally small.

    Is that a counterfeit?

Yup... do you know what it was struck on?

    Take a close look...

Nope. I'm looking, I'm lost. So it's a counterfeit in genuine slab?

It is a very high quality counterfeit that unfortunately evaded detection at our host - these are becoming quite a problem in the early American copper community.

Take a look at ONE CENT on the reverse.

Struck on a later date large cent?

Have quite a few counterfeits accumulated over the years, but fortunately, the sad story attached to these three isn't mine. About a year ago a friend, coin club member and dealer was approached by a customer who'd purchased about 10 sheets of dollars like these from another party, each sheet holding either 16 or 20 coins. Don't know how much he paid but it had to be substantial. My friend had the sad duty of informing the customer that each and every coin was a fake, and as a further kick in the groin, not even silver.
