CAC does not sticker Redfield's in the original holder. I tried to talk John into it, but he would not budge!

Color for the (extra) point! Nice coin and those holders will come into vogue at some point, maybe 10 years maybe 50 but there will be a hot niche market for the additional degree of history someday

Thanks! From the canvas mint bags most likely. The Redfield cardboard inserts also continued or created some of the toning. If I had owned this from the 70's, I would be able to answer exactly which source it was!

Looks like Wayte Raymond album toning to me- perhaps Paramount had extra red holders left over and inserted some non-Redfield coins. Doesn’t really matter- beautiful coin I would be happy to own- the color just doesn’t make sense to me.

The (gorgeous) toning on that coin is unlike that which I’ve seen on any other Redfield dollars, and I’ve seen quite a large quantity of them.

Honestly I couldn't give a crap that its a Redfield ie in a Redfield Holder, all I care about is the incredible eye appeal, condition and toning of this special piece is spectacular. I would expect to find such a great Morgan in an old ANACS or old NGC or old PCGS holder. But no matter what I would keep it in my collection for a lifetime, it's that special.

Thanks for posting the full size image, it is quite stunning and I agree with others, the degree of toning is unlike many of the other Redfield Dollars I've seen in the past... Great Coin.
What's the other 66+ you speak of and it is nearly as toned as this one?

Often NGC gives nearly pl coins a star grade; in this case it is obviously due to the eye appeal.
