How many Coin Shows did you attend in 2023?

goldengolden Posts: 10,451 ✭✭✭✭✭

This year I attended 9 shows. I had to miss the Fun show and the CSNS show because of unforeseen circumstances. I made it to the ANA, a couple of regional shows, a few state shows and some small local shows. I hope to get to about the same number next year.

1 largish show the ANA Phoenix
6 or 7 times attending the local monthly show
1 for the annual two day Mesa coin club show held each year in Jan.

8/9 total and roughly about average for me.

    That is all.

    Two!

That's two more than any year since 2019 so I was pretty happy with that. Bought one nice coin at each of them, cool things that I'd been wanting but that didn't break the bank, and my wife even came along to one, which hadn't happened in ~7 years, and we had a great diner lunch afterward and a visit to a fascinating National Historic Park on the way home, so taken all in all it was one of the more excellent days out of the whole year.

    None.

I went to a show for the first time a couple of years ago, and was sorely disappointed--didn't find much I was looking for, and was astounded to find that one could pay only with cash if I had found a coin I was looking for (and I don't carry thousands of dollars of cash around with me).

So that one show likely will remain the only one I ever attend.

That’s not always the case, maybe some of the old timers are cash only but they probably would take a check if you had a someone that would vouch for you. A lot of the younger dealers will accept Venmo or Zelle these days though.

Zero to expensive for my budget maybe some day will see. If not I am OK with that as well. For me it would be travelling from Canada to the USA by plane so add in hotel and all the other expenses it adds up very fast. I am not a rich guy so bidding online will most likely have to do.
