CAC population report

chesterbchesterb Posts: 995 ✭✭✭✭✭

Do the CAC pop reports include CACG graded coins? I noticed that CACG designates coins as cleaned, questionable toning, scratched, etc. Will the coins with those grade designations be included in the CAC pop reports?

Thanks in advance

On the pop report page there’s a drop down box to filter by stickered or graded, however the default should show both. I believe all the details coins go in the “0” column.

CAC and CACG are separate operations. It's been clearly stated that they are not equivalent... i.e. a PCGS+CAC MSwhatever is not a CACG MSwhatever.

It's unlikely that the population report from one will include the population from the other.

Can you point me to where that was stated? I do recall a distinction that they were separate entities, but no where have I ever read that they they are using different standards and are “not equivalent”.

They absolutely want to be treated as equivalent.

I find this assertion to be unsubstantiated. Yes, they are separate entities, but their pop reports are tracked in one database. Go to the CAC pop report website for proof. By implication, they are using the same standard. Additionally, JA has said that he intends to rotate their grading sets between the two operations so that the graders/certifiers are keeping up to standards.

Consider the "1903 Jefferson" row. The "66" column indicates:

I take this to mean 185 "stickered", and 4 "graded".

And under 66+ in the next column - none so far have been graded.

The drop down menu gives you 3 choices, Both together, Sickered only or Graded only.

    Still a bit confused:
    What does
    Stickered: graded mean?
    What does
    Graded only mean?
    and
    What does Stickered Only mean?

Stickered:Graded shows the population number for both those with CAC stickers and those graded by CAC. The number of each is separated by a :

Graded only shows the coins graded by CACG.

Stickered only shows the coins stickered by CAC.

    Ok
So, if I'm just looking for coins with a CAC sticker for PCGS & NGC I would use the Stickered Only tab?

Yes, helpful. But while CAC internal records quite possibly keep track of this, CAC has never made this data public.
