Man, that's a proof!!! That spot looks baked into the surface. I wouldn't let ANYTHING touch the surface of that coin!!

This is probably the best course of action. Put it back in the capsule and enjoy it as it is. It's a beautiful coin.

I wouldn't even breath on the newer minted proof surfaces. I tried acetone on cheap proof coin surfaces for trial and error and sometimes the acetone leaves a slightly cloudy surface behind and can not be removed so...............DON"T mess with it.

I think you're right. I just don't think it will take much to damage or destroy that coin.

I agree with the others just leave it be, but nice photos showing the proof contrast. Love that black/white look, makes it almost 3-D! In the 80s-90s auctions catalogs, they were all black and white images in the catalog, but I remember always thinking how nice proof coins looked in those images based on that heavy black/white contrast. Nice pickup Joey!
