Rather than responding to the troll du jour - dingleberry (and giving him attention he so obviously wants, but doesn't deserve), let's ignore him. He is rude, stirs up trouble and has used a profanity. He has no place here - let's move on.

I would suggest that anyone who agrees with me, ask Carol to give him the boot. I hereby give my word I will never respond to one of his posts again - who will join me?

I guess this is a thread itself: "Why DON'T people ignore the trolls?"

Mark's suggestion is the one that recurs constantly, yet people just can't help themselves, and join in whenever trolls show up.

My theory is that people however disgusted, always slow down to look at the car wrecks, or run across the school yard to look at the fight. We're all just naturally curious primates. Trouble is, our voyeurism just feeds the trolls' exhibitionism.

Since the thing always simmers down and plays itself out after a few raucous days, though, I suggest we just let it run its course.

Of course, if you all REALLY want to let rationality reign and follow Mark's suggestion, that would be an impressive Good Thing. I just don't think you will....

Is it TOO mature to simply ignore someone or something you old fogeys find offensive? Flame me too. I am responding to this only because this type of thread is always started by this guy. I don't know him, or Dingleberry from Adam. But, you claim to find something offensive that someone else might not, you want to blast this guy for whatever he did.

Do it on your own you coward. Yeah, lets see who else wants to PM Carol just like me. Sounds like a bunch of schoolkids. Maybe we can make a difference.

Actually, kaleidoscopic makes a decent point. I know that I was one of the members who flamed berrydingle, but maybe I should have just ignored the thread. Better yet, I should have stated my opinion in a more profession, mature, adult manner. Berrydingle did not say anything derogatory to any board member. Rather, he stated his simple opinion that we should ban links in our posts. A ludicrous idea, but an opinion that berrydingle is entitled to state. It is regrettable that berrydingle had to post that foul image........that was WRONG! He probably would not have resorted to such a plebian act if not provoked by other overly-rightous board members (including me). Just ignore someone's post if you don't like it........or state your opinion in a mature manner.

The bottom line is that NO board member owns this forum, nor has any "superiority" over other members. Don't forget; this is an OPEN forum. There are rules and regulations to be followed, but opinions should be stated at will.

Running to tell the teacher is actually quite appropriate here. This was a minor "flame war," as far as they go. The real injury came when he posted a completely inappropriate, far, far and away the MOST inappropriate post he could conjure.

"Opinions" are fine and dandy. We can have some fun and silly banter, like those responding to Mr. Dingle's rediculous requests. Nothing was "major" flaming until the Dingle himself went over the edge. And I agree, he should be reported and banned. And I'm sure he will.

Berrydingle made some very inappropriate sexual putdown comments to me personally, Carol had to edit this thread. Then he went on to insult everyone including Carol. He now uploads and posts that very dumb image of himself. It's enough, and there is no need for this type of behavior, period! I do avoid his posts as much as possible, but I unfortunately run into his garbage while reading other good threads. There is no defense what-so-ever for the crude remarks he made to me.

Lucy and coindaughter, I think that I missed those comments, due to the editing by Carol. I am sorry that you had to go through that. The only really bad thing that I saw was the image of some dude with a bad mullet hairdo wearing jeans that belong to a 5 year old kid flipping the bird. If he engaged in person attacks then he should be kicked off. I am behind that!!!!

I tried to play peacemaker in a nice way and informed him to chill out in a pleasant manner. But, the line was crossed with the linked image and the remarks to kitty/lucy ... PM sent to Carol. Mark, I pledge in the future to not play peacemaker and just ignore trolls in training...

There are those people like Mr Berry Ding a Ling ,who enjoy handing out insults, but

who are thin skinned and lacking in the ability to take it in return. These inadequate and

insecure people float in and out of our family, but they can never find a home. The truth of the

matter is that nobody likes them, nobody respects them and nobody wants such people

around. The more they say that they dont care, the more they are hurt by the response

to their serious and multiple shortcomings. In any event, Ding a Ling will be gone soon and

life will return to its normal chaotic self on the Forum.
