No particularly rare gold pieces, but here is a "conditional" rarity. It flew on Gemini 4, the mission where Ed White II had the first US spacewalk (EVA)... a different sort of fall, where he was continually "falling" around the Earth. One of only a few gold coins (to my knowledge) that have ever flown in space.
White during EVA. The coast of central/southern CA. is behind him, basically from Lompoc through Santa Barbara to (just covered by door) Los Angeles.
