    Nice looking coin!

You're braver (or richer) than I am, willing to buy a very expensive coin, raw, from a vendor on a different continent. To each his own, of course, but I'm not a risk-taker.

I hope you haven't bought the acetone yet... as someone mentioned already, there is a solid collector base for "dirty old gold".
Clean it and it'll never be a dog again.

Actually, just saw the bit about acetone tonight. Definitely if it were mine, would not try that trick! Leave that NOLA DE just as it is!
It’s got a good look and you might end up with one of so many DEs that look ‘washed out!’

I wouldn't touch that coin at all. Straight to the TPGs.

I’m not touching the coin and have not sent it in. Sitting in the top of my life chest tray. I’m moving this summer and will get it done after things slow back down.

Think you'll get it back by the end of the month?

Throw a coin enough times, and suppose one day it lands on its edge.

My last express was 13 days from received to shipped.

I'm in the 55 camp too. Very nice coin!

Congratulations, most of the commenters were pretty spot on. Had a feeling your pictures were showing more pronounced marks than really in the coin. I know this from trying to take pictures with a cell phone camera - never works well. I'm glad to see you left it alone.

that is a great looking example. thank you for not messing with the coin and getting it preserved as is. there are very few circulated new orleans coins that look this nice.

I’ve been looking at over 1852-O $20 and I’m seeing a lot that are dipped. I like this coin more and more.

Congratulations on a nice coin at a very good price.

Good result, it looks like a $7500 or more coin in value. PCGS certified coins of this sell for more than NGC.

Several of you got it right on the money!

Can’t say I was hoping for a 53, but maybe it will CAC if I can find a way to send it in.

I can submit it for you. Just PM me.
