    Would say it’s freshly dipped. I don’t see any definite cleaning abrasions, marks. Think it’s a dipped AU he’s trying get MS money for? That’s a common scenario.

    CPG for AU is $136, MS60 $260.

    Based on the images provided, the coin isn’t merely dipped. Many people mistakenly think that cleaning always results in easy-to-see cleaning lines/hairlines.

    Edited to add: Often, the primary evidence of cleaning is an unnatural sheen on the coin.

    Abrasive cleaning causes hairlines while dipping does not. Different, unnatural looks, both impairing or obliterating luster of the original surface, depending on severity.

    Collector and dealer in obsolete currency. Always buying all obsolete bank notes and scrip.

    Depends on the fineness of the grit. Cleaning with a fine grit compound won't leave visible hairlines.
