Numismatic Puns

Over the past six months or so, we've come up with a handful of numismatic puns. Not enough to qualify for a blog post, so we could use some more. Can you add any to this list?

Has anyone ever taken a proof coin and put it in some pudding, just because?

What do you call a coin midway to its destination? Half Cent.

Why was the numismatist excited about his evening? Because he had a key date that night.

What kind of coin do you put in a bathroom? A Voce Potpourri.

What did the tiny numismatist use to protect himself? A Shield Nickel.

Shouldn't a Clamshell Lamination just be called a Clamination?

Best coin joke I ever heard was years ago a dealer said this to me. Two coin dealers on a plane flight somehow survive a crash on a deserted island. They are there for years, before finally being rescued. Both dealers after rescue were asked how was their show, and they both said, best show I ever had! (Traded and sold to each other for years until rescue) It requires the delivery and such to say it, but I thought it was so funny! Again, kind of only a joke that works in person, but still…

My dog’s Lincoln registry set is ranked higher than mine. He detects greater ‘scents’ than I do.

My understanding is coin doctors used automotive putty dissolved in a solvent to doctor by painting coins to hide hairlines or small scuffs.
