Realizing, of course, that all the good stuff has been gobbled up during the unofficial pre-show.

I can think of a couple that I won't be visiting, but nowhere in particular that I have to hit first.

    The dining table?
I always end up hungry after waiting in line. . .

And that's why I no longer go to coins shows. Walking in circles for hours, going from table to table, waiting in line to talk to a dealer, looking for one specific coin with zero luck. Going to the lunch table then the dinner table.

I’m fairly new to coin shows. Can you explain the idea that all the good stuff is taken before the show starts?

Ok but assuming most of those coins are still available on the bourse. Dealers don’t sell at wholesale to us anyway I’m assuming.

Dealers buy quality coins and raise the price from what they were at the original table in most instances.

The "pre-show" is not unofficial. ANA "Dealer Day" is Monday. If a dealer has a table for the main event, which starts Tuesday, he can buy a table at the "Dealer Day" pre-show. And any other dealers are welcome to walk the pre-show for a $125 fee. Collectors are not welcome, even if they're willing to pay the fee. I think it's ridiculous, but it's completely "official".

I'll start out with the table closest to the door.

I’ll be walking with purpose to about three tables initially. After that, I will start at one end of the bourse floor and go aisle by aisle. Hopefully there will be other kind souls that will interrupt my bourse crossings by reaching out to me alerting me of things that require my attention. Fingers crossed!

I should clarify. The "unoffical" activity refers to all the dealer-dealer trading that happens in hotel rooms, etc., prior to the show. Yes, there is an official "dealer day."

I've got to help staff a Club table so I know where I'll be when I get there on Tuesday.

As a dealer, I like the idea of the ANA charging a big entry fee for the first day of bourse activities. I just don't see how it helps dealers to keep high roller collectors out of the show. And any collector who's willing to pay $125 to walk the show on the first day is a qualified high roller as far as I'm concerned.

I image the first table for many will be their favorite grading service's table to drop off coins for grading rather than hauling them around while cruising the bourse.

Is there a way to tell which dealers specialize in what? Your question has me wondering. I need to find someone selling Indian gold.

Dentuck - that's on my list. Gotta get there before Cherrypicker's sells out.
