Added my second Indian Head to my Dansco registry set. I don’t have much experience with Indian Head 1 cents but I thought this was a really nice looking coin.

Along with guessing the grade, I’m also wondering if others, like myself, are more inclined to buy coins with True Views?

    Despite a couple of recent lackluster results, I love trueviews. Any of my coins that don't have them at purchase I get reholdered and imaged ASAP.

    Great coin! Block out the cert number on the TV or a lot of guessers will look it up and cheat!

    @lermish your sets are really inspiring. I especially enjoyed your chopped Trade Dollars and Basic US Design Set. I’m also actively working on the Basic U.S. Design Set to add some important type coins that the Dansco misses.

    And your Truviews for all coins is what I have planned in the future for my registry sets.

    Now that is an easy guess the grade :). As to your question on TV's I avoid them, those photos are usually very nice but that is the problem. TV's are by their very nature glamor shots, too often I have seen TV photos where the coin looked nothing like the photo, especially true for toners. As an example it is not uncommon for TV photos to have a red color shift, so any red toning might be very accentuated and more vibrant in a TV than in hand.

    That is not a knock on the service just an acknowledgment that the photos are taken under certain conditions and in a way to give the photo the best look. That might not be able to be replicated once the coin is in hand, and it is why I never buy from a TV alone anymore, if the seller cannot produce additional photos I pass.

    Personally, no TrueViews isn't an issue at all. I just take images myself.

    1. And yes, it’s faster and easier if a coin already has a Trueview. Otherwise you have to take a picture yourself. I don’t limit my purchases to ones that have them, but if I’m deciding between a couple of coins a Trueview is a plus. But then I standardize them with my apps so all the Trueviews look similar in size and format to the images I take so they all have a uniform appearance. I wouldn’t resubmit a coin just to get a Trueview though.

    Let me first say that it’s a very nice looking coin. I would say it grades 64 only because of the softness of strike in the digits of the date and the corresponding shield on the reverse. TV’s are glamour shots and I don’t purchase based on those alone.

    I will go with 63 BN. A very nice example of the date, holding up well for 160 years old.

    As hinted at by @Ownerofawheatiehorde, copper-nickel cents aren’t designated for color (as in RD, RB or BN).

    I do not buy because a coin has a TruView, and must have 'real in hand pictures'. However, I do appreciate having a TruView in addition to those pictures. Cheers, RickO

    Thanks all for the thoughts!

    The coin is in a 64 holder and I’m extremely happy to add it to the Type set. Have a couple more recent purchases on the way then probably cooling off for a few months (unless the perfect for me Seated Liberty Dollar shows up) as I’ve added quite a bit to the collection this year already.
