I am amazed at what I find sometimes in my own collection. The picture doesn’t do the coin justice it is really black in hand.
I love these black beauties.
Please post some of your own.

If that is black, your photo is waaay overexposed.

I purchased this 1875 S PCGS XF 40 CAC Trade Dollar about 6 years ago on eBay, and I almost sent it back to seller as it did not match the photos as it was a lot darker than photos.

I apologize for my original picture. Here is a picture against a blast white Morgan.
I included these pictures in my original post.

I flipped thru some of my existing pics and think these are the darkest Morgans I have that are not just circulation dirt or having the dark brown leather look, as opposed to black. Usually heard the color described as a gun metal or battleship grey look. Not sure I've seen a black Morgan in hand that wasn't just circulation grime or terminal toning.

    That is a cool comparison.
I wouldn't doubt though if some external factor came into play post-mint so as to achieve the current result.

I recently got this dark lady out of the SDB and have no idea when or where I bought it or if it looked like this when I got it. Nothing else had toned in the box.

Successful BST deals with mustangt and jesbroken. Now EVERYTHING is for sale.

I've read this thread a few times and always thought - I don't have any of these. I was wrong! Forgot about this guy:

Not a Morgan, but it is a dollar!
