Interesting Submission

I bought this Buffalo nickel several months ago at a local coin shop. He had purchased it at a show. Looking at the verification page, the submission numbers range from 39533058 to 39533074 and the entire submission contains lower grade or damaged, common date coins. Does anybody know who sent this in?

At least it is not a group of circulated coins from the 1980's.

Do you think anyone is going to admit to it??

Wow, someone spent $40 for PCGS Gold Shield to grade a Buffalo Nickel worth 25 cents?

It was a non-US submission, so maybe they were told "Americans won't buy coins unless they're certified"... I've heard that before from overseas collectors.

How can you tell it was from overseas from the verification page?

Those in-holder "Trueviews" only occur at ex-US PCGS offices.

Amazing how many 5 or 6 dollar certified coins sell on eBay.

What and no pedigree on the holder? Seriously people want professional treatment even if they don't really know what they are doing as most experienced collectors and dealers do, plus it pays the bills for the services.

I think I asked this question before. What's the point of a CAC sticker on this slab?

It means that CAC thinks it's properly graded. In this case, a gold CAC sticker would have hurt its value. I'm more interested in that Peace dollar in the rattler slab with a hand printed label. Did PCGS make that label that way for some reason?

Just a suggestion, may have been someone preserving Dad or Granddad's collection. Cheers, RickO

That particular coin is the only "0" graded by PCGS. Unofficial/ Official
