VF-20. The wings retain a good amount of detail. That is a nice coin.

F15 in my eyes compared with photograde. Nice pickup. I did not cheat. So if off, you will know. lol

Looks like a 20 to me for a rare and historic issue. This is an TOUGH coin - forget the grade, it looks original, amazing and problem free which is rare for this issue!!! I love it! How many whiskeys did this coin buy in saloons the old west?

Assuming it's not a Details coin, I'll take the "over" and say VF25. PCGS is generous in grading the CC quarters prior to 1875 due to striking issues.

I’d give it a VF-20 nod due to the earlier-CC date weak strike.

Average of all the guesses is 17.86. I'll post the grade, and the rest of the story, later today.

I paid between F15 and VF20 money for the coin, thinking it was a solid VF20-25. There's a huge price difference between 15 and 20. As you can see by the cert#, it was graded F15, which was a major disappointment. There's no way I think this is a 15, especially if you see the coin in hand.

    So, I resubmitted this week

Nice! This is where it should be.

I was torn when I said 15 because it does look a bit nicer than your average 15, but I don't think it was nice enough for a 20.

I'll buy at F12 price all day long. I would also have it down as a 20 as strike looks weak and subsequent wear not too bad IMHO.

That is a very nice 1872 CC quarter. Congratulations!

I have an example as well. It seems to be similar to yours (I think).

Nice coin and especially difficult to find. Even though this is mid grade, it is a higher grade example for this date. I checked and there are about 65 coins in lower grade and less than 20 in higher grade at PCGS.

You have a great Seated Quarter collection! I remember the 1840 large O with drapery and the 1870-cc.

I would like to see the quality of the surfaces in hand before rendering a grade- From the image, it is between 15 and 20 and it all turns on quality of the surfaces

I’m late to the party but VF 20 was my first impression before seeing the grade.

Interesting how different the Trueviews are. The first one represents the color more accurately, the second one shows the detail better.

That is a wonderful quarter, and I am envious! Glad to see my guess was spot on. Coin not messed with and quite the find.
