1883cc pcgs ms63pl ogh Morgan

I just pick up this 1883cc pcgs ms63pl ogh. I normally don’t sell, and I don’t have too, my ogh coins but this is a lower grade duplicate for me therefore I am trying to figure out a fair price to ask. I don’t do much online and Greysheet is $385-, cpg is $500, and PCGS is $525- however this is a ogh which I think should add more value.

Or is this the type of coin (cc, pl, ogh) that should be kept because the probability of the value increasing is high.

Any ideas?

Have you researched actual sales, as opposed to price guide values?

I don’t do eBay but it seems pricing is around $550- before taxes and shipping.
I always use price guides (which could be an error on my part) because I was under the impression they are driven by auction results. I understand a guide is just a guide and are not absolute in regards to final sale price because many factors are in play thus why I posted for comments.

I disagree about being right on. Are those completed sales or asking prices? I believe that examples should be readily available at less than $500.

I’ve seen a great number of price guide values which weren’t anywhere close to numerous recent sales prices for various coins.

Mfeld: thank you for your comments. I do not agree with your eBay and ha comparisons because neither is ogh. For those coins I would have only paid around Greysheet which is $385-.

I personally think coins in old holders that have eye appeal are worth more. I know my view is subjective just like majority of collectors view cac bean coins more valuable (I have commented in other posts why I do not like cac).

I do agree with your comments regarding price guides. They are in my opinion a starting point.

For what it's worth, for moderately priced and very common coins like yours I have found the OGH adds little to no value. Maybe $20 on the high end if you luck out and find a super fan.

The old holders are actually a negative for PL and DMPL in my opinion and the best value is a newer one that just missed DMPL.

I don’t think there’s much upside b/t 63 and 64, (likely not worth the grading and s/h fees) so I wouldn’t count on too much of a premium. I believe the majority of pq Morgans in old holders have been cracked out and upgraded already. For me it’s worth 63pl money, assuming the mirrors are there; however someone may pay a premium based on the color of the holder, so worth a shot. Good luck.

You are going to be hard pressed to get more than $450 as your photos do not show strong mirrors or frost. Those eBay BIN listings are like fishing without bait and hoping a fish swims by and you can snag it.
