I have shown these two before, but never together - the pride and joy of my Santiago, Chile mint colonial collection.

Of course, if anybody has any colonial coins from the Santiago mint It would be great to see them :)

Those are excellent and very rare! Well done. Perhaps unsurprisingly, I do not have any to add.

Very nice and scarce to rare in that condition. Congratulations.
In my experience, Santiago mint Carlos III minor coinage, specially 2R, 1R and 1/2R in grades above fine to very fine, like this example, is surprisingly scarce to rare. By comparison, Carlos IV coinage in higher grades is seen much more often.

Nice coin, just for curiosity I tried to see it on the PCGS cert verification, but no luck. It shows a message in red.

    I regraded it at one point. It’s a 64

    Thanks!

So, when it is regraded, the cert # remains the same? anyway this is what returns:

Hopefully you also got a new Trueview that lights both sides of the obverse. Great looking coin.

This 4 escudos is extremely rare, possibly unique.

I assume this is the same example referenced in C. Jara's 2005 work on Santiago coinage 1749-1772. As of 2005, this coin was considered unique. I is very possible this is still the case - One would have likely heard/read about a new example if it had been found. This is not the case. A notable coin.
