*PCGS crossover results* “Grade posted” What grade would this 1955/55 Lincoln cross at PCGS?
I just got this 1955/55 and since I am sending in another Lincoln cent in for a crossover I am considering to include this coin. Depending on comments I will either keep it if it crosses because I want all my copper coins in PCGS holders, or sell as is.

Do a crossover at same grade only, this way if it doesn't cross you sell it at the current grade

There seems to be a bit of luster left so XF45 is possible, however, I would not pay over VF35 money for an example that rough looking regardless of plastic brand.

A lot of these lack eye appeal; probably an AU.

It wasn't a very well made coin from the start. A lot of marks and handling dings too. The strike is slightly soft, but detailed enough to be decent.
There's not much wear on the coin, so I have to say AU-50,

Those new pics are much better than your original. I wouldn't be surprised if NGC gave this an AU53 (and it would not cross at that grade IMHO).

I would call it XF40, and honestly I have a hard time remembering another 55 DDO with that much wear. Hard to imagine a variety that obvious would circulate long enough to take that kind of a beating.

This post/comments is an example of why I really like this forum (wish I joined years earlier) because of the objective opinions, thank you.
I posted a few days ago a 1922 no d Lincoln cent Ngc vf25 and everyone thought it was under graded. In this case it is almost an exact opposite.
Where I live this is the first 1955/55 I have seen in the last two years and that’s a major reason, plus I think this ddo version is really cool priced under $2k, so I bought it. Ngc graded this 1955/55 au53.
As comparison I included photos of my 1955/55 PCGS au55. The reverse has scratches in the slab, ugh.
Since I am sending in my Ngc 1922 no d for crossover I think I will take a chance and send this in too with a minimum grade au53. My decision will be do I keep one and sell the other or maybe sell both and try and find an PCGS ms 1955/55. I will probably post asking for help when I get the coin back. 🤞
If anyone has any other ideas/comments please let me know. 🙂

I like the NGC coin better but graders at PCGS seem to grade tighter (stricter) than they use to, unless it’s a great rarity.

If you're shipping two in and clearly are not happy with the slab scratches on the PCGS holdered coin, why don't you send that in for a reholder and true view at the same time?

Lusterlover: yes, you pegged it. I do hope you are incorrect and it does cross. Comparing it to my current 55 I think it may have a shot. I purposely did not crack it out because I want to see what happens.
Lermish: duh, that makes sense why didn’t I think of it. I mailed the coins (four in total for crossover) about four hours ago. I would have done it if I thought about it.
I plan on posting the results. 🤞

I'd look for a really nice AU58 or an MS63. It seems that often an AU58 looks better than lower graded MS. Maybe it's just me.
