I wouldn't be any good grading Seated Dollars for PCGS

Somehow the graders can spot the difference between a cleaned Seated dollar and one that hasn't been- or is market acceptable.
I wouldn't be good at it, I suppose.

I will agree with you. I long ago came to the conclusion that both PCGS and NGC just threw darts at a board when it came to Seated Dollars. James
I'd guess if you could rotate them under a light in-hand that you would be much better than just looking at single, static, poor quality images.

My guess is that you would be good at it as long as you could view the coins in hand and didn't have to reply on images. Often, cleaning (or the degree thereof) isn't apparent in images, but obvious, when you can tilt and rotate the coin under a light.

Even though they called it cleaned, I like the look of that 46.
They all look “unoriginal” and messed with including the one that straight graded.
It’s a matter of where to draw the line - there are other examples of this conundrum - hairlines on Peace Dollars come to mind.
I suspect if you had them in hand and under a harsh halogen lamp, it would be far more apparent.

That one is from a different submission looking at the cert number. I wonder if he meant to include the cleaned 1860-O instead of the 1850-O.
It’s probably not a great idea to submit five coin together that all look like they’ve been cleaned.
IMO, there should be a stricter standard of "market acceptable" for Peace dollars vs. Seated.
One of them just isn't done yet. Give it a few more years.
Second '71 and '64 are dead ringers.
This is where AI will come in handy as a finalyzer.
I've had heavily toned, almost terminal Seated dollars. One long time dealer said it probably needed to be dipped but as it was Unc. didn't want to take the chance. You have to wonder what the treatment history was with each.
As several have stated above, if the coins could be viewed in hand, under good lighting, and tilted at angles, we could better judge the cleaning aspect. Cheers, RickO
I agree that the AU58 coin should be in a bodybag also. The entire group has been messed with.
