Nice find. Suggest that you soak that dime in acetone to get that crud off.

Sweet! Odd, the last 90% find in circulation I had was also at a Taco Bell (old SLQ).

Could you please cash it in at the Kroger CoinStar near my home and just walk away without checking the reject bin?

Funny and close. I worked there in the early 70's and tacos were 27¢.

I see comments about acetone all the time. Yet I also hear "By God, DO NOT clean your coins". I've never used acetone, is it much less harmful than say, soap and water?

They've been able to keep it relatively cheap at 1.69 now but, I bet they tasted much better then.

Acetone will dissolve organic dirt and grime without damaging the metal or toning. I wouldn't use soap unless I was sure it didn't have any abrasives. I remember the commercials on TV for Lava Soap which claimed better cleaning power since it contained pumice. A clear liquid detergent such Dawn may work but never rub the coin when cleaning it or drying it.

I can tell you that back then the yellow cheese used was actually Swiss cheese. No kidding. When the big containers of frijoles we're cooking we used to pitch pennies in them. Most of the time we found all the coins. 😗
