More backstory, from Coinfacts:
Ron Guth:
The 1844 Dime is one of the most popular dates of the Seated Liberty series, not because it is particularly rare, but because of it's nickname. It was first called the "Little Orphan Annie Dime" in the 1930s by Frank Ross, a collector who hoarded this date and promoted it as a great rarity. In fact, it can be found with relative ease (for a price, of course), especially since a hoard of 612 of 1844 Dimes was sold by Heritage in July 2003, allowing many collectors the opportunity to finally obtain an example. In top condition, the 1844 Dime is very elusive. A small number of MS63 and MS65 examples are known and the best example is a single PCGS MS66 illustrated above (and formerly from the collection of Bob R. Simpson).
Gerry Fortin has identified two different die varieties for this year: one for the Proof coinage and another for the regular issue coinage. Interestingly enough, the reverse die used on the regular issue coins was later used again in 1845.

Looking at past auction results, I think I just paid way too much for it, despite the CAC bean and the fact that I got a $100 discount off DLRC's original asking price. Oh well. I don't mind hanging on to it for the long run.
I always wanted one.

Ah yes, thank you. Forgot that. I don’t think I’ve seen that movie since the ‘90s. I recognized Ralphie in the screenshot, but the Ovaltine reference was lost on me.
I shall avenge myself by posting an obscure Princess Bride reference in one of your future coin threads. LOL

Of course the numismatic Little Orphan Annie reference in my title was almost as obscure as the Christmas Story one…

I'd rather have your coin than so many run of the mill higher graded ones I'd say it was worth a premium personally.

Inconceivable! I will be VERY impressed if you can sneak one by me.

Ahh, you fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is "never get involved in a land war in Asia". But only slightly less well known is this: "never go in against Lord Marcovan in a Princess Bride trivia contest!"

Hahaha

I learn something new everyday. Didn't know there even was a "Little Orphan Annie" nicknamed coin.

I don’t know the price but I prefer the fields on the F15 you own to the VF35; the VF35 obviously has a prettier face.

I like the originality and colors blended in with your dime. To me your dime is eye candy.
I used to own this 1844:

I have a 44 with the face missing. I bought because it was net graded. My other one has a face and is also net PO1.
