You guys have to remember every time I buy a coin I pay the conversion rate since I live in Canada now it is 37% add 5% custom taxes as well then shipping that takes a lot out of my budget. If I was in the US I could 5-7 coins per year versus 2-4.

You are not paying any more than we are. Just because 1 USD is 0.73 CAD, you are still paying the same prices as us.

But agreed, the 5% Customs (and GST?) is a surcharge. If you live in certain US states, you would also have to pay sales taxes.

Not so sure about that. VERY few 50c collectors in the US. Virtually none in Mexico.

I like the centavos series especially the 5 centavos and 10 centavos. Will not collect them but still some nice looking coins and many tough coins.

I was tracking a few pieces, including an 1813-JJ Mexico 8 Reales in NGC 63 that sold for strong money - $3,600, This coin was a part of a hoard of 1811-1813 MS Ferd VII that were certified around 2008. All went through the same treatment that left the coins extremely lustrous. Most, like this piece, plagued with hairlines. I felt that this coin's previous holder, a PCGS MS62, was a better fit: https://www.pcgs.com/cert/26504991

So discussing extreme grade scarcities, or more esoteric items like the double-struck Cap & Ray... it can be hard to gauge results since you just need a couple of bidders to jack the price.

More widgety material is, I think, easier to judge as you can really peg pretty closely what something "should" sell for based on multiple prior results.

Just reviewing a few things quickly... the prices that that type of material brought here are pretty staggering.

I can't believe that this, even with nice even patina an AU55 grade slapped on it (never mind that NGC's cob grading is basically that professor who gives EVERYONE an A)... with virtually zero legend brought $2600 with juice!!:

I was going for a Charles III 1/2 Real in PCGS-MS65, the lone top pop
I really didn't want to give up on it but somebody else wanted even more than me.
Sold for $4,080

I wasn't bidding on this coin but was watching it out of curiosity.
A 1774 Charles III 2R in PCGS-MS64
Sold for a very strong price of $4,560
Some of that strong pricing might be attributable to social media promotion/marketing of the coin on IG, as I observed it posted by IG account - creamcoins but that's just speculation.

Indeed.

You know, I bought my first example of that pattern at 1998 NYINC, and if I remember correctly I paid $350. That coin is today a PCGS SP64BN.

But I also hold the record for the most paid for that coin since 2016 ($10k for a PF65BN) and broken in 2022 ($29k for a SP65RB). I expected to be buried in both of them, but now I think not.

The copper ones aren’t rare, though the PF63BN last night was only the second that I know of with the die clash and was probably the better coin of the two.

yes, you paid up for the 1825 Zs, but not too crazy. Not many examples in MS and this date seems to bring a premium. I paid up for the au version I have as well from the Nogales sale.

Edited to add: Someone offered me the D&P plate coin of this DAM in late 2000 for $350 and the ex-Norweb coin for $450. I guess I should have bought them?

The Norweb coin was called "without a doubt the finest known" at that time. Maybe that is your coin (missing pedigree)?

Edited again to add: The seller told me there were several different eagle varieties based on the number of berries (5 or 6 or 7).

Same here. very disappointed to have to cede the 1773, but happy for the seller. However, pleased to have picked up former Rudman 1760/59 1/2R in MS62, VF25 1767 and XF40 1788 4Rs, and AU58 1795 8R
