Currency help! Is this $2 bill fake?

The currency forum seems to be a little slow. If posting this offends too many members, I will delete the post. So here goes.
I have about 3 dz $2 bills and I was looking thru them this evening. I have one that is a little strange. I've never seen one that started with 3 letters for the serial number and not a letter on the end. Also, the back is a different color from all the others I have. Has anyone seen one like this before? It has some chinese stamps on it also. Fake?? I have it pictured here with a normal $2 bill.

It appears to be a note made for cashiers to detect fakes. Not a real US note in my opinion.
I once saw a set for sale on ebay, $1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100.....was tempted to buy but did not.

I don't know anything about them , but the black stripes across the denomination would indicate a fake ( or movie prop money)

The number fonts are different also comparing the 3, 2, 1 & 8.

So I actually found one on ebay with this description.
These were used in Asia to set up currency counting machines and to test them for functionality. Very rare to find and I haven't seen these listed for years. To be clear, this is not a genuine $2 Federal Reserve Note. It was printed in China with very high quality ink and paper.

Besides the obvious differences, the paper feels just like a real one. Same size and even design all looks the same. Kind of scary how close they can get to our original currency.

These notes are, ostensibly, used in China for training the bank tellers that handle the foreign exchange desk.

You obviously don't want to use real foreign hard cash for training purposes, as trainees might be tempted to steal them, and hide the theft under mis-counting. So the training notes are designed to resemble the real thing closely enough for training purposes, but be clearly marked as replicas so as not to cause confusion.

Ostensibly, they are the property of the bank, and aren't supposed to leave the bank premises.

In reality, these "bank training notes" are themselves heavily copied and distributed to anybody who wants some. You can probably buy a whole bundle of them from the street vendors, if you know where and when to look. It is not illegal to make a copy of a fake note. There are certainly far, far too many examples of these "training notes" on eBay and elsewhere to be explained away as the accidental or deliberate leakage of "legitimate" training notes.

This is funny. My wife use to be an Assett Protection Manager about 10 yrs ago with walmart. She use to look for coins and such for me when tellers would bring cash to her office. I showed her this $2 bill last night and she didn’t know it was fake either. She said most likely a cashier took it in and my wife just replaced it with two $1 bills to give to me. Lol

Counterfeit Currency Detector pen mark on it will tell you immediately if fake or genuine. Amber color-bill passes.Black/Brown-bill is suspect. Works like a charm.

Ya, I know they used them while she was there. I'm sure it just went past one of the cashiers. Probably didn't test it being a small bill. I'm actually surprised it wasn't tested as most of the younger gen have probably never seen a $2 bill. Lol

That pen doesn't work. Try to mark on a bounty paper towel to find out. Back in the days, I used to run three retail store fronts near time square nyc. And some of the counterfeits were from bills that were marked by the pens first.

Counterfeit detector pens can tell you if the paper is either linen/cotton or wood pulp based. It will not identify a counterfeit bill printed on the proper paper type.

The pens are not fool proof. You should learn how to detect a counterfeit with your eyes and education rather than relying on someone or something to tell you. You have already learned this lesson the hard way once, do you need to learn it again?

I can't tell you the exact method used but people will take a $5 and wash or bleach the ink off and then print a $100 on it.
It will pass the pen test because it is a genuine $5 note.
I have seen 2 of these $100's and one $50 that were done this way and fooled a retailer that only used a pen.

As already stated, fake. The pink Chinese writing states this... so I read. These were available to buy on Amazon and a couple years ago we had a couple of the $100 bills spent around town before word got out.
