Best sources for certified low-ball coin inventories?

New to low-ball collecting, having issues finding a dealer with a decent inventory. I know its a very narrow collecting field, but I've gotten hooked, after collecting banknotes for so many years.
Would there be any dealers you guys could recommend that carry these? Anyone with a solid selection, (as opposed to trolling eBay hoping one will list) More into modern lowballs, e.g. Memorial cents, Post 1964 Washington, Sacagaweas, etc. (with Sacagawea so far I have a VG8, VG10, F12, VF20, VF25, and so on. ) Thank you.

Certified or raw? That would make a bit of a difference. Regardless, if you are looking for problem-free examples of modern coinage then there isn't much depth to that inventory pool and your best bet would be to check ebay and the Buy, Sell & Trade (BST) board on this site.

Modern lowballs are pretty tough. I don't know that there's a dealer for them.
This is a good-faith question for OP:
What is the charm of "low-ball collecting"? To me, it just seems like spending good money (sometimes at a very significant premium over somewhat higher grades) to buy ugly coins.

They may be worn, but they are by no means ugly. They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and to this beholder, a problem-free lowball coin can be quite beautiful.
Brent Pogue thought so as well and had a lowball type set.

Have not heard of a lowball coin dealer. You could post a 'want' note on the BST.... Much like art, such interests are individual preferences.... and not without merit. Cheers, RickO
The major auction houses have lowballs pass through their auctions on a random basis, but they rarely handle 'moderns'. I suggest looking on eBay for the coins you like and want that are raw and submit yourself.
For the nice older stuff I have seen them st GreatCollections, Heritage, David Lawrence, StacksBowers, Goldberg and many of the dealers that are on the national circuit will also occasionally have an item or two in their inventory and show up on their websites.
Good luck in your search, it will not be a quick one.

I don’t collect them at all, but I’ve noticed that Americana Rare Coin has been including them in their inventory more and more recently fwiw.
My local dealer has a bunch, but you'd have to go in and ask for that particular box. Maybe other LCS have the same option.
@Ted 1 , This, I believe (I could be wrong), is the lowest graded Sacagawea known to mankind. Besides a dollar, how much is it worth?

I liken lowball collecting to paying new car prices for high mileage, old, rusted out cars. Sorry, but I don’t see the appeal…I don’t doubt that they’re difficult to find, though. When they’re in that poor of a condition, most people don’t send them in to be graded. That is just my personal opinion, but I won’t begrudge you. I don’t know of any one dealer who personally specializes in lowballs. If I hear of anyone in the future, I will certainly let you know. Good luck and have fun!!

I have low-grade coins and collect circulated classic commemoratives, but I am not a lowball collector. I'm certainly not going to pay a premium for a lowball coin. I just can't normally afford rare coins in higher grades. I did purchase one lowball coin (72-S) for its exceptional look alone, but it was for a low price.
I bought a 1967 Canadian dollar certified PO1 on eBay. ( one of two that I know of)
I also got lucky and purchased a bulk lot of silver dollars that had 4 lowballs
between PO1 and G4 in it. A lot of times it is harder to find a good clean lowball
than a high grade.

Buy the lows for a low price and then sell for as much as you can get to someone who thinks they're gold is my business model. I've got an 1872 IHC that should go PO 01 at PCGS (POP 1) although it won't be me trying to get it in a slab with the coveted PCGS PO 01 grade. Raw lowballs, especially of key and better dates, represent a golden opportunity for me to quadruple my money or more.

I know that Walmart parking lots are good sources for raw lowballs, along with grandpa’s sock drawer.
In my experience, the best source for low-ball coins is eBay. Just be sure to include "low ball" when you do your search.

I agree eBay is an excellent source for lowball coins.
I bought another so-called lowball, but it was the choice rim ding I was after. It's light colored with dark margins to highlight the damage. Perfectly annoying. I gave the seller a lower offer first, but I was worried someone might outbid me that I hit the BIN button and paid the full price for it ($40). I even started a thread about it.

There doesn't seem to be enough modern lowball material out there for someone to specialize in it exclusively. Every now and then I'll get a lowball ASE, modern commems (I sold a cool 1982 Washington commem 50c in F12), kennedies, and ikes.
Just like many areas of collecting, you have to do your due diligence and scan everywhere. Shows, online shops, auctions, etc. Best of luck with your collection.
