It was a pretty memorable "find" as well for me, my first on-line HA auction, and I wanted it so badly that I hit the bid button repeatedly until I placed a bid on the next coin.

Haha! Too good! Those auctions go pretty fast an a lot of times one bid is the FINAL bid. What would you have done if it was some God awful high grade proof, costing thousands of $$, and it got knocked off on you.
Thanks for that, I needed a good laugh.
And you did get a nice coin, congratulations!

Hands down . . . don't have a single favorite! Here is ONE of my favorites
This coin was an earlier purchase and one I'll likely have for a very long time. Apologies in advance, the photos aren't the best.

Although not my most valuable by far, I’ve always been fond of this coin that I plucked raw out of a dealer case for $50 about 12 years ago at a show in Boston
I think @Russ was quoted as saying he had it in his Last Will and Testament that a certain coin was to be buried with him!! I won't go that far, but this will certainly be one of the last, if not THE LAST coin/medal I part with.
My father's Morgan Dollar, he personally hand engraved.
He did this for all 5 of us kids. I so happened to send it to our host to give my father a small tribute.
Here it is

Now, as to my favorite
Numismatic Aspect
1955 Bugs Bunny ms65 FBL fs-401
Cherry picked than had graded.
Sad part, sorry to say, I sold it at the last Chicago ANA Show!
Received a substantial profit.
Thank You 😊

That's a nice way to upgrade your collection with an expensive coin. Too bad CAC covered the WIRE.
I think all is not lost. In trying to get that sticker scratched off there is a product available that should help to remove the rest of the sticker residue. Perhaps someone here can help by identifying its name.

Goo-gone, but tell me again why we're removing the sticker? I'm pretty sure that to the majority of us are educated enough to realize the "W" indicates a Wire edge, if a good look at the edge of the coin wasn't enough.

No way would I get rid of the CAC!!! CAC may be kind enough to move the sticker so it doesn't cover the WIRE.
Mainly because my "favorite coin of all time in my collection" is a concept which is "static". This concept cannot be reconciled with the fact that I am human and thus "fluid" (aka, my answer changes from day to day, hour to hour, minute to minute and even second to second).
The above said, my favorites are coins that have a sentimental connection (i.e. family history, acquired as a YN, a great cherrypick, or just gorgeous, etc.), including these:
Family history (acquired by my parents from a bank in 1962 and given to me in 1963 as a 7 year old YN). Will never sell this coin and will pass it down to my son.
Acquired as a YN in 1963. Will never sell this coin and will pass it down to my son.
Cherrypicks (High grades; acquired for modest money; positive eye appeal). Would consider selling some day.
For today, 2-1-2023 the 1882 S, MS65+ Morgan is my favorite.

That's remarkable, a silver dollar from the bank ends up being a MS65+.
I have posted this one before. Found at a small Minnesota coin show when I first restarted collecting. Did not plan on spending more than a couple of hundred dollars at the time. The coin stood out at the show and I just had to have it. One of the few Proofs I have ever bought.
Some mighty nice coins
Mine is one I found in change, sent it to Dominion Grading Service along with a few other coins.
Nothing special just a cud found in change.
Not a coin, but my favorite National Commemorative medal. One of only 38 minted at the Philadelphia Mint a couple years after the shuttle disaster to support Young Astronauts. One troy pound. Only 2 graded, very few still exist.
I'm not good with names but I remember faces
lkenefic, the coin you posted looks very much like a coin I sold to a dealer several years ago at the Kenosha Wisconsin coin show, it was in a SEGS F12 holder.

Thank goodness Rick Snow doesn't do gold coins.
No!
Are you kidding me, did he remove that CAC off of that beautiful HR-W?
Because the sticker was covering the word Wire. He’s pulling our leg, no?
I just can’t believe it. Show a new pic, please!

It's that one coin I wished I could have found when I was a kid.

Hands down. Not the prettiest, but pretty darn rare.
I've posted her before, the first year of a series I love, graded AU-58+ by PCGS.

Me too! I would love that sitting beside my ‘06, while admittedly is only a 55.
Just a superb coin!
your collection is much easier carry now!

Great thread, with interesting replies.
