That is an excellent choice all around—beautiful coin with a clean cheek, plus an OGH and CAC. Great pickup.

Nothing is as expensive as free money.

I am looking for one just like that to go with my 2023 peace dollar next year 😅

    Extremely nice pickup. Conga rats!

@P0CKETCHANGE Thanks! It’s my first CAC on an old holder. The green on green does indeed look cool! 👍

I like that coin a lot. It has really nice creamy, frosty luster, great detail, and a clean cheek. This coin would look really good in a 66+ holder, but I like it even more in an OGH with CAC. It would be hard to do better for a representative of type.

Not much to dislike about her! She's taking on nice toning, too.

I put her at even money to upgrade, but then I'd never take her out of that holder, not a chance.

Where are you seeing toning? It looks blast white to me, but it might just be my interpretation of the photos.....?

@BryceM, the pale yellow. Or is that just due to the lighting?

I guess we'll need the OP to tell us.

I do see what looks like a bit of toning under "DOLLAR" and across the eagle's rock on the reverse.

There is indeed slight toning on the reverse: top and bottom:

very slight, just enough to show it’s not dipped, but still @ricko approved, possibly would get his sticker…. :p

I knew, per the OP, the coin would be incredible, and even so, opening the thread, I was amazed at the beauty of this Peace dollar. The trifecta of perfection. Nice!

@asheland.... That is indeed a lovely Peace Dollar.... However, that yellow tarnish might preclude the BW sticker..... I know you can get one... Probably have a blast white Peace dollar in your coin cabinet. ;) Cheers, RickO

That kind of toning is perfectly acceptable on Peace dollars (to me, anyhow) and quite appropriate to the overall history of the coin.

@asheland It's a small world after all as I thought this looked familiar.

I sold this in 2019 formally part of member extemike's collection who has a great eye for Peace & Morgan $1's.

Photo below I believe Mike had done by Todd member blu62vette.

Oh WOW! That’s my coin! :D
It came from a dealer, that collection was sold I’m thinking in Texas? And that dealer sells stuff to the shop I work at… What a small world.!

I can't remember if I sold it at a east coast show or mailed it to a buyer in 2019?

Still, what are the chances of recognizing a coin with a mintage of 30,800,000 :D

Very nice, smooth looking peace! A few die clash marks that are standard for the series.
The ogh holder looks pristine also.
    Congrats on a solid purchase!

I know! Really cool actually. 👍
It came in a small collection, a few PL and DMPL Morgans, etc. a fun group.

This is the only piece that I got though. Gotta restrain myself. :D

Lovely eye-movement through her. There's what separates the ladies from the girls.
