I sold a PCI coin on eBay

Auctions are risky. Naturally I obscured the grade, and explained in the listing text that this is required by eBay for non-approved TPGs.
Furious email: "You cross out grade in you coin! So you admitting that you cheating! Fake coin fake grade. I report to ebay! You should be ashame!"
I actually explained and then blocked him. What do you know, winner of the auction is another person from the same town. What are the odds?
Edit: I should have made this a poll, so people can guess what happens next.

Post an image of the coin. But you are correct. eBay doesn’t recognize PCI grades and as such, you must cross the grades off.
As long as that is stated in the description you should be safe. Then again, eBay usually sides with the buyer regardless of their rules.
For my clarification.... I thought you could post an actual picture of the coin (in which the PCI grade shows)... but just could not make any mention of the grade in any description or title?

the person that bought it returned it for improper description or disagreement for assigned grade?
I'll bet the new bidder claims its fake and tries to get a refund while keeping the coin.
If allowed by the forum, perhaps you could share the winning bidders eBay handle, so that other sellers may block him and preemptively save themselves a future headache

Refund money saying coin was already sold and listed by mistake. No good will come from you shipping the coin.

Far less headaches just selling non eBay approved slabs on the BST here.
Was it a green label PCI or gold label? The green labeled PCI's are generally fairly graded, imo.
@MS66 if its a quarter in a green PCI holder I am looking for one.

If I were to sell a pci holdered coin, I would crop it down to just show the coin.

Depend on which generation of PCI Green label - the originals, sure. The retro and the out-and-out fraudulent ones, not so much.

I don’t know if it would help since this could be a malicious buyer, but when selling coins like this I often add something to the effect of “due to eBay policy this coin is being sold as a raw, ungraded coin.”
I've cracked out old green PCI holders and got upgrades from the big three.

Sounds like trouble brewing... I would cancel the sale and save the potential issues. From your description it is the same person (or his buddy) and will try some sort of scam if you ship the coin. Cheers, RickO
Oh, I know. That said, I've had stupid claims quashed before because I was able to point out to an eBay rep that I wrote something or showed it in a photo. I strive to make my listings accurate, but I also do some CYA.
As at least one other member has stated, I would cancel the sale and block the winning bidder.
Too much of a coincidence that the winner is in the same town as the author of that bizarre message.

Hmmm... sounds a bit sketchy to me... especially if it's smaller town. The odds of two ebay bidders on the same coin coming from the same place after one of them contacted you about the coin for sale?? Yeah... I'd go run and play the lottery...

Haven’t had any PCI for a long time. I would think all that stuff gone by now. Best of luck with your situation. Just execute the return once received back / they will hold your funds on it until he’s refunded.

As far as that guy in same town strange low probability stuff happens. I have it had it happen to me. Once made leomonade out of a lemon experience.
On the rare occasion that I have a Segs or PCI graded coin I will have a picture of the holder as one of the last ones so that buyers can make up their own minds and use if for reference. Sell the coin as an AU or BU or whatever. Only "woke" and misled people will report coins like this where all the information is out there and people can return it if they don't like it.
