1974 D Lincoln penny, I found in a bankroll I got today I'm just wondering if I should have it graded what are you guys think?

What grade would it have to be to make it financially practical to grade? What grade do you think it is?

Nice coin for an album but not perfect enough to justify cost and effort in grading.
Lots of little hits would not work to your favor.
My humble opinion anyways.

This is the type of coin that is perfect for an album or simply to keep raw. However, there is no way, no how this coin is worth submitting to PCGS, NGC, CAC or any other certification service. The coin is worth a few cents. Literally, it is worth less than a dollar.

I would suggest you read and learn and look, look, look before you attempt to take the very expensive plunge into certification. Good luck!

Cool , for me I've been fishing around too trying to see you know what if I had something you know need to graded, and I think you'd almost have to drive to the mint and pick something up before anybody would say well you might want to have that graded and then you'd have to go back to the mat and make three or four trips cuz first time second time wouldn't be good enough pretty tough but they keep it real I appreciate that part

I have a 84 that, I ran across also. If I get a clear enough picture I will send it.

Common date modern coins from rolls or circulation that would be worth having graded are virtually non-existent, errors or some varieties would be the exception.

Improved photography! That’s good news. Fill albums for now. There are good threads about certifying modern coins that will inform you.

Definitely not a coin to submit to a TPG. Cost alone would be a waste of money, then shipping, insurance. Get an album for coins like this... When you come across a nice one, pop it into the date hole and build a nice circulation set. Cheers, RickO

Yes, that's pretty much accurate. Does anything in that surprise you? Finding valuable coins is hard. Those coins have value because it is hard to find them.

You need to slow down and learn more about the hobby and business of numismatics. There is no way that coin would ever merit the cost of having it slabbed.

A good way to learn is down load the eBay app. Go to search and your questions about your coins value will be shown current prices. If possible please buy the Redbook $20 well spent. Good luck and if I wanted a slabbed modern I’d look at eBay. 😁

  Pcgs and ngc as well as others have great websites. Stay away from YouTube.  🙀
