Might just be a weak strike. Even the mound the buffalo stands on is in need of detail. The front leg and hoof, the outlines are apparent.

The more qualities observed in a coin, the more desirable that coin becomes!

It’s hard to tell until I have the coin in hand hopefully soon.
I’ll keep you posted but the lower part of the hoof is definitely missing.
The lower part looks present to me.

Welcome back! You've not been around much in the last ten years,
I can't really tell on that coin. It looks like a combo of a weak strike and old worn die.
The hoof is missing wishful thinking 3 1/2 legs.? It’s an ms-64 PCGS old green holder would be top pop .
wow. they handed it out on this coin and SURELY there are a bunch out there equally as weak or weaker, one would think.
ms64 would be a top-pop pcgs/ngc by a good margin. glad you mentioned it.
here is a CF example. that is a lotta leg, even for a 3.5.
Not the 3 1/2 legger. The mintmark position is wrong, and it needs to be an EXACT positional match for authencicity
Pete
Correct. That mintmark's gotta be alllll the way down to the rim.
I have an early die state piece that definitely shows some leg weakness, but there's still quite a bit left. This was a $7 cherry at my LCS.

Nice score I can see what your talking about thought I had one with the hoof missing.
Thanks for all the comments it’s appreciated.
I agree with the consensus... Not a 3.5 legger... The picture is good enough to show the detail and hoof. Cheers, RickO
Hey caitlin. It's been a looooooooong time.
My vote is that it's not a 3-1/2 legger. Sorry about that.
Holy Crud! I thought someone resurrected a long-lost thread. Welcome back, @caitlin!
