I've seen a few die trials of the Lincoln bust on this medal and just ran across this decent specimen of the entire medal on the bay which I thought was worth saving.

Anyone know Anthony C. Paquet's middle name?

Update Jan 26 2018: Image updated to have $300.00 sale price.

Just located the thread where I saw the die trial for this. Apparently Robert Bashlow got a hold of the bust die and had some restrikes made by August C. Frank & Co. It's interesting to think about how the bust die used in the die trial would be used to make a token die with the surrounding words.

Here's some info on August Conrad Frank:

This maker was by the company started by August Conrad FRANK, (1864-1946). He was a German-American engraver and die sinker. Born in Germany, 1864, He came to America 1893. He founded the August C. Frank Company, Philadelphia, in 1894. Frank was probably the only engraver for the firm in early years, later he accepted dies engraved by others that his firm would strike. After he died the firm was operated by his sons using the same company name but ultimately sold to Medallic Art Company in September 1972.

The reverse is interesting in that the type fonts vary in both size and style. Does this medal exist in other metals? If so, were the type fonts changed?

Here are the images from an HA lot. Today was the first time I saw both sets of images and I just noticed these are different because the HA specimens have stars on the reverse.

The reverse is different. The first piece must be an early design trial.

It does look like a trial. If anyone is interested in it, it's available on the bay now. I have no relation to the sale but this could be interesting for a Paquet or Lincoln collector. It could also be interesting to assemble a collection with the Bashlow restrikes, also on the bay.

I started another thread with these. They look similar.

32 stars on the rev, is that significant?
