World population just hit 8 billion.

According to the UN, the world's population reached 1 billion for the first time in 1804. In 1927, the world population reached 2 billion. Now, I'm not sure if any of you guys were alive back then, but if so, then you have seen the world's population quadruple in your lifetime. Most of you, I believe, or at least many of you, have seen the population double in your lifetimes, as we hit 4 billion in 1974.

    Well, I guess post a coin with a high mintage, or something like that. @Che_Grapes has the right idea :lol:

    Well... That population figure may be changing in the other direction. I just read an article about how sperm count - worldwide - is seriously decreasing. Now over 50% less than fifty years ago..... So, that will affect population growth - and, if it continues, the viability of the human race. I do not have any specific coin with a mintage over 8 billion, likely the Lincoln cent, in aggregate, would qualify. Cheers, RickO

    we did a thread a while back to see which coin was the most produced in history. i think it was more a lincoln cent vs some queen coin. the lincolns crushed everything BY FAR. not saying that is good or bad, just is. ya know?

    Over 10 billion 1982-P cents minted in the year change from 95% copper to copper coated zinc. Plenty for everyone in the world to get one for quite a few more years. A 1984 and a 2000-D would also meet the demand.
