Yes. They quoted things said here in their case against the people with the 10 1933 Double Eagles.

I believe they do monitor the forum. I have received emails from the mint for surveys, as have others here. Cheers, RickO

I would guess that mint employees may be forbidden to comment to avoid the implication of "official positions" taken in the comment. I would also guess that mint employees monitor these websites.

Yes. They quoted things said here in their case against the people with the 10 1933 Double Eagles.

Can you explain? Was the sentiment here that because they were likely stolen they should be taken? I can’t believe they were going to or did melt them. That’s insane and quite frankly ignorant.

Many lively discussions here, with strong opinions on both sides. The government found the postings here and used them against some of the experts who were testifying.

Know that members used to be able to have a "Title" under their pictures, and mine was "2009 Numismatist of the Year."

Know also that there used to be a lot more kidding around in these forums, with "joker threads" where the whole thread was made up light nonsense. In one such thread author Roger Burdette, who was appearing in the trial as an expect witness for the Langbords, and I were kidding around about something or other. All just good-natured fun. The government lawyers scanned these threads, and used that joker thread to attack Burdette's credibility. When the plaintiff's lawyers tried to rebut, the judge refused to allow it because it might harm other members participating in the thread, including the "2009 Numismatist of the Year."

Yes, I recall, and such a tragedy at that - Big Brother at his worst. I guess this matter has to stay buried however wrong the outcome to so many of us.

If they actually do monitor this Forum, are they able understand what they are actually reading? I really think they just out task reading the forum to the BOT Patrol.
