Found an album and wanted to know if it was worth the price asked

I went to a coin shop and found an album filled with Jefferson nickels of all the dates and MM’s from 1938 to 2006 and they were asking $35 for it. They were all in fair to au shape. Would it have been worth it and should I go back to buy it?

You could try going to eBay and seeing what similar items have been selling for.
Wasn’t someone here mentioning that the 1950-D is worth more in circulated condition versus BU because of how well saved/preserved that key date is? Probably could sell that coin alone for more than $35 if it grades low enough (vf or so) to a lowball collector.
The $35 sounds like great deal but depends on what condition of better dates. You could pick it up at that and upgrade. That’s less than would cost 2 people go out for dinner. Would not go very far at high end bar. But if many low end…
Considering the silver war nickels and the 1938s, along with the 1939s and 50-D, are worth at least the asking price, you would do well.
Also, the album may have value. I know Dansco albums in excellent condition would be worth $20. even empty.

A lowball collector won't want it unless it's graded. And it'll cost you $45-$50 for that.
This... more or less. Any 50D is with $8 to $10. The 11 war nickels are worth $12 to $15. Not hard to get to $35 worth.
Why are you thinking of buying it? For your collection? To resell? Or what?
That is the $35 question.
Fair enough.
The site https://www.thesprucecrafts.com/early-jefferson-nickel-values-3884282 lists Complete Date-Mint Set of 71 coins till 1964 to be about $32.00 to buy so for a circuated set till 2006, the price seems pretty reasonable.
Now what sort of album were they housed in? If it is a Dansco, then you really got a great deal.

If the value of the album itself is the difference between whether or not it's a good deal, that doesn't say a lot for the coins, if you ask me.
Buy it
I'll go against the grain and tell you that unless you want the set, don't buy the set.
From the description, which is wildly lacking in detail, the set is worth more or less what they are asking for it. So, do you want to work and hustle and mail things off in an attempt to make a few cents on the dollar? Or, do you want to purchase it intact and upgrade? If the former, this is a dog purchase. If the latter, it may work.

True.
I was cobbling together a set from pocket change finds and struggled to complete it. So bought an album and swapped the dogs out (War nickels, 1950-D etc.) with existing ones and a bunch of raw coins that had been picked up from eBay.
Most of the war nickels came back straight graded as a mix of 66 and 65's from our hosts, one was a 64 with FS and two were cleaned.
Incidentally, the Jefferson nickels is the only fully completed set in my collection that is not housed in a Dansco nor upgraded after that since the interest just flat out waned.

Could be some error coins in there.
I'd only buy it at that price if the album it is in were a Dansco in nice condition. Also, make sure the 50-D really is a 50-D.
If you just want it for your collection, the price is reasonable. There are many factors to be evaluated.... Type of album/condition, condition of coins, are they correct for the designation. Good luck, Cheers, RickO
Value is up to the purchaser. If you like it and want it, buy it. $35 is a fair price. If it is in a Danco sleeve album that is unabused, then buy it right away. The album alone is worth it.
Personally, I would rather buy a Morgan silver dollar for $35.
I don't think anyone told him to buy the set for anything other than his collection.
I realize that, but prior to my post he never stated it was for his collection, either, which is why my post is phrased that way.

If a good quality album in decent shape, then the coins would be a bonus.
