Quarter Mintmarks

I am going through my spare change and the quarters are confusing. The ones that do seem to have a mint mark are unreadable. It looks like a dot. Is the mintmark always that small?

    If you can try doing a rub using the side of a lead pencil and a smooth grade of paper.
    Lay the paper on the spot in question.
    Very gently and as even as possible try to show the raised images in this spot.
    Try it a few times and then photograph the images revealed from the rub.
    Cool....

    Thank you emeraldATV: I tried the rub with several grades of paper, but nothing transferred. Also, I see Steve in Tampa flagged the post for being in the wrong Forum. Sorry, learn as you go!

    Over the years the size of mintmarks has changed. Also, as dies become worn, they can also become less-defined.

    Not sure how your question is in the wrong forum. Let’s see. Question is about a coin and this is a coin forum. 😁.
    Not sure why you got the bums rush but it takes all kinds. Mint marks have changed some perhaps a small magnifying loop will help. Sometimes I take a picture on my I phone and stretch it out for a closer look.
