So here is my 1835 'Small Bust' below. I saw the small bust term used once and thought it fit. Don't know how recognized this name is though. The coin to me is a little lighter than shown here as the TV picks up some extra rust color.
Edit: I only own the 1835, the others (1834) are from CF.
Any other small bust CBH?
.

.
When I bought this one raw years ago I thought it was the first year of the small bust. I do not recall if I learned the first year was 1834 from seeing one or from reading in Overton. But I thought it would be a little fun (fun for me, not you sorry) to gather up some information on the change to the small bust in 1834 and see if I could get it properly arranged and posted. If something is wrong or new or more, then post away.

The 1834 CBH started out with the old 1833 basic design and then transitioned into the small bust design that was used until the end of 1836 lettered edge CBH. The three main varieties are identified as Large Date, Large Letters (initial 1834 design) / Large Date, Small Letters (transition) / Small Date, Small Letters (final 1834 design and 'transitionals' / change).

The Large Date, Large Letters is O-101, 102, 103. Here is one (O-101) for comparison. Note the size of the date and letters on the reverse. Also note the depth of the bust.
.

.
The Large Date, Small Letters is O-104 through O-108 which is stated to be the 1833 master die and large date but with the small letters on the reverse (and small stars punch on obverse which I often have trouble seeing). Here is one (O-106) for comparison. Note the size and the spacing of the reverse letters and the size of the date (large).
.

.
The Small Date, Small Letters is O-109 through O-121. However, here there are some different combinations of changes or 'transitionals'.
O-109, 110 and 116 appear to use the 1833 bust but do have the small date and small letters. Here is on (O-109) for comparison. Note the new small date and the reverse small letters but the depth of the bust is still the older design.
.

.
Next I read that O-113, O-114 and O-116 are more 'transitionals' or design experiments. It starts with O-116 and then rework to O-114 and then rework some more to O-113. The changes come as smaller arrowheads and wing to body with more minor changes to left end of scroll and eagles claws. Also how the depth of the bust appears to be thinning. Here they are for comparison from O-116 to O-114 to O-113.
.
O-116

O-114

O-113

.
Finally there are the remaining O numbers that have the 'small bust'. And the small date and small letters. As noted above this becomes the final transition and used in 1835, 1836. Here is one (O-119) for comparison. Note the depth / size of the bust. Also the arrowheads and wings (not smaller).
.

.
Again see something to correct or add, then post away. And any other 'small bust' CBH.

Love them all! I don't collect CBHs enough to know the difference when I see them but those are all beautiful examples! :)
