The seller is asking $59 with free shipping. Should I buy this, or pass?

    What's your goal? If $59 is no big deal to you and you like the coin go for it. If you are trying to resell, make sure to check sales records and whatnot to see what they are going for. If it's for your own enjoyment, check pcgs price guide for an idea and if it's a fair price, go for it if you also like the look of it.

    It’s an ok coin, as long as that green tint isn’t something bad like PVC residue

    NGC lists the value at $55, but I understand that the seller has to pay shipping and eBay fees. The coin does look better than an EF45 to me though.

    I don't understand the question, how do you expect anyone else to know if you find this specific coin attractive or not? The question you ask can only be answered by you. If you had asked: "would you buy this coin for $xx.xx" then the replies could have provided some meaning.

    I don't see any green tint on my computer screen. It looks like an original problem free coin that's properly graded.

    Not an AU. I see no luster.

    If I were selling that coin raw. I would call it XF40.

    Looks fine for the grade and it has a pleasant appearance.

    If I were considering the coin, the couple of obverse carbon spots would make me look for one without them.

    I don’t particularly care for the coin because of the spots but my opinion is irrelevant. If you like the coin and are comfortable with the price buy it.

    A couple of people mentioned the spots. Let's get realistic here. The coin is circulated and the spots are microscopic in size. It's a Civil War year coin which makes it particularly interesting and desirable to anyone interested in US history.

    I think I'm realistic Perry in that patience is a virtue in collecting to one's tastes/preferences. Reality also indicates that this is not a rare coin and there are others available eventually without the spotting. My eye would focus on the spots on this coin.

    I did not say it's a bad coin and would be quite acceptable to many, but I answered the OP's question for my opinion from the vantage point of me being the buyer. Only he can determine whether he likes the coin.
