1859 IHC question

Namvet69Namvet69 Posts: 9,246 ✭✭✭✭✭

I dug up 2 1859 IHC yesterday and the space between the rim and bottom of the date is different. Is that position tolerance normal? Thanks. Peace Roy

    Measure from the bust. Given the difference in wear, it may just appear to be closer.

    awe man it did it to me again

    @HeatherBoyd

    can you pass along to the tech team. the forum does the draft save automatically but recently it has been doing saves a lot more a lot faster (drafts are nice to have) and if we try to submit a post during the save (fraction of a second) the post looks like it submits but doesn't, at least in firefox. this has happened at least several times now. t.i.a.

    @Namvet69

    i had a nice post for you but it is gone now.

    after comping coinfacts images, some patterns etc, it looks like your coins are normal provided they have the correct composition, which it appears from the images they do.

    no varieties i am aware of. you can look for snow varieties and FS varieties, if any are applicable.

    There are several obverses for 1859 which differ by date position.
    You can see some of them here:
    http://www.indiancentvarieties.com/1859_varieties.html

    It may be difficult to identify the specific obverses of your coins, due to the amount of wear/corrosion.
