I didn’t really notice the latent fingerprint on the obverse that someone tried to remove before I sent it in for slabbing, but I still like it

A recent pickup of mine that has a details grade for obvious reasons, I just love how original it is

Virtually all 1855-C gold dollars are poorly produced. They have bad planchets and weak strikes. This one has been cleaned but is much better stuck and nicer looking than most.

NGC used my coin in their ad, picture before it crossed to PCGS. Since sold .....
This R5- has faint hairlines from an old wipe. I bought it knowing it wouldn't straight-grade.

Why do you think "it seems to be so obvious"?
My experience with coins being deemed QC is limited as I have not submitted coins to our host until last year (and have not had a coin come back QC until this year). When I sent in the 1950 and the 1960 cents I thought that both coins might come back QC. It surprises me that one did and one straight graded. Thus your insight would be helpful.
