Yeah very interesting, so until we get the FOIA all new error D coins are suspect, that's awesome 😂

I find this to be potentially quite disturbing.

Disturbing on several levels. I don't understand why the employee was not terminated immediately.

I believe the mint employees are unionized.

If the employee has a clean disciplinary record, firing someone from a Union shop can be difficult, costly, and time consuming. The Union will likely support their member up to and including legal action. A 2 week suspension is actually pretty harsh (assuming the guy has a good work record).

Not saying if it's right or wrong, it's just the way it is in manufacturing facilities.

Normally, theft is a terminable offense, even in unionized organizations. Must be more to the story. Even then, and I agree with @CaptHenway, it is disturbing. Cheers, RickO

If the stolen coins were all pennies, that's just $1.85. You can't fire someone over less than two bucks! o:) Jeesh!

You can fire someone over stealing a 3 cent pencil.

I suspect that the mint categorized the items as worthless scrap, which would affect valuation in terms of theft of something of value. We shall see. Peace Roy

As a teenager when I worked at the Do Drop Inn hotdog stand at Six Flags they would fire you if they even saw you snitch a Potato Chip!
