    I think that they might make coins, but that's just a crazy guess.

    Like the post directly above, I think it might be cool if the mint made some "throwback" coins that were the same composition/diameter as those first made in the 1790s. And hopefully, unlike the peace and Morgan dollars, they would actually have a similar finish as they did back then. I'd buy that.

    I collect world proof sets, coins featuring composers, mid-20th century U.S. proof coins, U.S. type coins, and whatever else I want.

    Unlike the 11 years for the States/Territories and National Parks quarters, the American Women will only be four years. Then there will be five quarters for the big 2-5-0, and as for what will come next for 2027-30...eh, I'm not so sure about that idea TBH.

    Oh yeah and the 2026 MLB All-Star Game will be in Philadelphia, for obvious reasons.

    So at least we know a few things planned.

    Based on past practices, the mint will come up with a series of overpriced limited mintage commemorative coins with special privy marks. They'll all sell out in less than 10 seconds to flippers who'll immediately put then on the secondary market at a 1000% mark-up.

    I would not expect announcements before 2025, though I am reasonably sure there is already a committee at the Mint exploring options. But then, expect major hype and hoopla.... I am sure there will be gold and silver large coins... Probably a full four coin set. Those are safe predictions, so I will not venture further. ;) Cheers, RickO

    Might get lost? Why just dual dating? We need lots of dates, Norfolk style. Meanwhile, I'd recommend pre-ordering your semiquincentennial wallpaper early. Supply chain, and all that.

    I'm guessing we'll have some kind of design competition for one, the other four will be typical bland insipid designs.

    Betsy Ross with a flag -- since 99.94% of Americans can't name a second woman in the context of the revolutionary war.

    Note that while there are up to 5 quarter designs, the $1 design count is not limited. And I have no clue what "emblematic of the U.S. semiquincentennial" means.

    I was just thinking:
    What about a $250 gold, with 2.50 oz. gold?
    It would be large enough to have the US on the obverse and the declaration of independence on the reverse.
    Smaller denominations of course, smaller size and less gold.

    The large $250 would limit the average collector, like myself.
    It would be a smaller size for me.

    The best they could do is running the old die ….. ok with Palladium then 2021 Peace 🤔 c’mon already!

    IMHO ….. The best original design so far is the type2 Reverse.
    That’s very good but pretty bad ……
