Don’t much care about the labels. Care about the coin, TPG grade, the deal. Not worried about matching labels, TPG. My excel sheet does just fine. Won’t pay premium for label either.
It’s nice to see similar labels on the entire set but shouldn’t be the limited criteria on buying decisions.
I like them ALL ….. Green Beans label to show off the eye appeal ….. Festive for special edition and oh I LOVE the textured paper used in the rattlers 🥰
CPG on the 2008-W $100 platinum is $3700. Interesting results. However the 2 that traded last nite at $4200 being compared to auc in March. Don’t forget the juice.

When I'm in the throes of buying a coin, the label is a secondary part of the assessment, but a part nonetheless. If I like the coin and the price it's being offered at, I'll consider the slab it's in. If it's "straight-graded" and in the ballpark for what I believe the grade to be, then it's a done deal. If it's in a "Genuine" holder, I'll have to consider the issue and the amount of damage that got the coin to that state. If it's a coin that typically comes beaten up (I collect early copper ) I'll weigh the extent of the damage and the price... but, I have to like the coin first.

Well, if there were no coin in the middle, I wouldn't buy the label...so it must be the coin. The right label doesn't hurt, it lets you the buyer know that important people that have important opinions have decreed that a certain coin is extra special.
The soft rings PCGS used were unstable in direct sun light. I remember a coin shop in downtown Baltimore where I used to work that put several inexpensive PCGS slabbed coins in their sidewalk level display window in the direct sun light and every one of them had the yellow rings.

I searched the forum and realized—I believe because of the same comment @PerryHall just made again—that it was just UV light reacting with the plastic. I still think it looks really cool though, and kind of wish I still bought it.

I'm not sure if this is still a problem with the newer gaskets but if you have an older coin you can create your own by placing the slab on a window sill in direct sunlight for a few months.

I am certainly not into buying labels. I buy coins either online or from my table at shows my offer usually 10 pct behind CDN bid.
As far as the guy supposedly paying $4200 for the label he’s buried in it lol. I could care less what his reason is. What’s he gonna do price it cost plus now? Go find them (buyer) ROFL😀

People collect all kinds of things. If they collect the wrong things, though, they get ridiculed.

On the classic side Gen 1.0 and 1.1 Rattlers and Doily labels sell for huge premiums that make these First Strike premiums envious! 😆

Greater fool theory. I never understood "grading" bullion anyway. To me they are all the same
