🐋 How did you come up with yours?
🐬Mine is now known as PF ❤️ and it was easy to come up with since I reside in Hawaii 🌈
🐋 however I was thinking of changing it in later day 🐠 but no can ….. once you post it …. it’s yours for good!

This was one of the rare places on the inter webs that uses screen names, where a major character from the Harry Potter franchise was still available. Most places those names were claimed 15-20 years ago. I guess that says something about the age bracket of coins collectors

When I got back into coin collecting in the early aughts I was reminded of a young me riding my bike into town to square up with my manager for my paper route collections on Saturday mornings. I'd short cut through the swamp which was a playground for me for many years.
On the way to meet up with all the other paper boys I'd swing by my best friend's house and we'd go over all our collections' change looking for cents nickels and dimes to plug holes in our Whitmans.
Steelies - every week
Frankies and Walkers - several a week but too valuable to collect.
Liberty nickles - one every month or so.
Those were Fun times I'm still channeling.
A cousin was recently back East and kindly walked into the swamp to grab a pic for me of one of the spots where we'd hang and play and walk in the creek either downstream towards town or upstream towards the lake.

Mine is the eBay handle I've had since 1999.
When I used to be on the board years ago it was my initials. When I rejoined with a new ID it is an homage to my son. Kind of an in-joke.
I used to play basketball in rec leagues and playgrounds until my early 40s. I was a hack but there's an old saying, "Age and treachery wins out over youth and skill.". That was me.

My collecting specialty is National Bank Notes and my favorite type is the Series of 1882 notes with the Brown Backs. In collecting circles, they are usually referred to as Second Charter notes, hence my handle - 2ndCharter. Here's an example from my collection:

My collecting has evolved to only PCGS slabs, with CAC stickers and gold coinage. Name came easy for me. I know that really will bother people but it’s a hobby for me and fun with those limitations. It lets me focus on working with just a few dealers that specialize in those three things.

In the 90's I met a group online that liked dabbling in source code and opening software not really for them and I was constantly asking question during normal discussions so it was said, "Jim just broke in again" and was given the name jesbroken as in "just broke in" and it stuck. We spent the next 20 years fighting dial ups and modem until now its unreal fast and still we complain. Remember when it took a photo 2-5 minutes to load?

It's my name and birthdate, 9/8/74. These days I wouldn't pick something that reveals personal info, but I've used it since 1995 on various emails and forums, so it stuck. At least I didn't put my SS#.
I used my real name. A while ago, I rebelled against anonymity on the internet. I guess I still do now, but less so. If I meet anyone in real life, I would tell you my name. Why shouldn't I do the same online?
And in the off-chance I meet someone on the forums at a coin show or elsewhere, they might remember my name from here.

From Fire Insurance Maps. That's my real work/interest/hobby/obsession for the past twenty years. I've been accumulating all knowledge that I can find about the development, production, distribution, and location of these very important historical documents. Found 35 businesses that created these maps, as opposed to the 3 or 4 that most map librarians can remember. And I have a file on Ancestry that contains the family trees of over 3000 people who were associated with these maps. They include surveyors, draughts[wo]men, proofreaders, stencil cutters, colored, paste maker's, binders, and many more categories. And I have, I believe, by far the largest private reference library/collection of these maps, from all over the western hemisphere.

I used to use this Texas commem that I cracked out of an old rattler holder as my emoji. But I have since changed to my emoji to the reverse design of a Great Britain Sovereign since that is the direction my collecting went. And honestly, it's been a while since I've cracked out a coin!

1946 - the year I was born Hamm- my last name. My avitar is an antique cameo that reminds me of a coin design. I read somewhere that StGaudins did carve some cameos when starting his craft I always wondered if this one might be one of his. The vast majority of cameos do not look like this one. I would love to see another cameo that looks like a coin design.
Mad Magazine had a strip "Botch Casually and the Some Dunce Kid." Don't recall how but it became a nickname. Avatar is my rainbow Binion dollar.
My username here, as well as usernames on many other websites, is dunkleosteus430. It's from Dunkleosteus Terrelli - a prehistoric fish that lived during the Devonian period, about 358 Million years ago (Anyone have a coin that old?) It was up to 20 feet in length and had bony "armor" protecting it's head. It's fossils are found in Ohio, but are extremely rare. I collect fossils, but not to the same extent as coins. I've got a few megalodon teeth, though.
The 430 part is just my favorite number, 43, and a 0. My name on one website was "dunkleosteus43" but I lost the password, so I made a new account with just an extra 0. The lowercase "D" is on purpose, too. I don't know why, I just keep it lowercase whenever I make an account on the internet.
Aotearoa is the Maori name for New Zealand. By the way, I'm told that te reo Maori and Hawaiian are mutually intelligible (with a bit of effort).

The idea behind my name comes from two places. First keeping it coin related, in addition to collecting old TPG slabs, I also like to look for coins that are potential upgrades. However, the spelling actually comes from a character in an old Mike Judge film called Idiocracy, which I used to think was just a funny movie, but as time goes by I think it might be prophetic.
