Haha thanks- I had two seated proof 68 Cameos in NGC holders and PCGS wouldn’t cross them so I sold them on GC! Time to replace!

Haha thanks- I had two seated proof 68 Cameos in NGC holders and PCGS wouldn’t cross them so I sold them on GC! Time to replace!

I have some proof JFK halves, still in the set. I have been thinking about getting a proof WLH... been thinking about it for a few months now. Probably should turn thoughts to action.

Glad you enjoyed seeing them. What's interesting is that the 1878 and a couple other coins here are sitting in PR64 holders. I think I found a few of them with above-average eye appeal for the grade.

I paid $60 for the set and got two, not one, but two varieties out of the set.

I have some Franklins, but no proofs. They are beautiful coins.
All I have are moderns - and TVs at that, so summayaz are gonna have to avert yer eyes.
Not all of these are "winners", even in my opinion, but some are real nice. Some of the curved coin TVs may be stock pix as they may have stopped taking curved TVs. But its what I got to share. ...

Many early 1950s proof dies were used to the point of losing their mirrors, giving them a satin appearance, and some weren't polished enough to get full mirror surfaces. They are quite attractive to my eyes. This example bears the details and strike characteristics of a proof, particularly the rims.

I have a number of proofs (Walker, Franklin and 1964 AH Kennedy halves) at PCGS being graded and photographed. I have thus far received 8 of them back and am waiting on Trueview photos to post. 58 more are still in the "grading" stage.
When all of these coins are back in my possession and Trueview photos have been posted I will show some of them in this thread.

In my experience, the 1950 issue is most often found with satiny surfaces and the tendency to find them this way goes down dramatically after 1953.
Here are close-up images of the front and back of my coin. You can see what appear to be hairlines all over Franklin's portrait as well as the Liberty Bell, but in both cases these are aggressive die polish-

thanks for posting those lovely images! it is probably much more apparent in-hand that it is a proof.i guess this effect isn't too dissimilar to what happens to morgan dmpls that develop areas that look completely MS looking while maintaining the dmpl look.
