1943 S date over date !?

My wife recently told me about an article she read of somebody discovering or coming to the conclusion rather, that the 1943 with the 4 and S as showing the most doubling are actually dates over dates has







anyone read that article and if so tell me your thoughts And or opinions

    Die deterioration. Struck from a worn die. You can see the radial flow lines indicating the erosion.

    Also, the date and mm were added at different points in the the die making process, so when you see anomalies on both, that's usually and indication of worthless doubling.

    It's a 43/2. There are two threads about it on this forum. Your coin looks nothing like it. Just die deterioration.

    I just saw that article a few days ago on this and the 3 on your cent exhibits none of the characteristics of the overdate

    Here is the picture of the 43/2 - you can just make out a 2 under the 3...........

    Here’s a funky one that’s been plated. Not sure what’s going on with the date due to the plating.

    You are correct. The plating has damaged the coin to the point where you can't even speculate about anything else.

    Yeah, they could be nicer. But text lacks the kind of nuance and context. They may be trying to be helpful by asking probing questions for you to think about. Compared to some threads like this, this one has been largely civil.

    @Dannybe.... Communications on forums is two dimensional, lacking the nuances of face to face communication. And some replies may be lacking in diplomacy as well. This is a coin collecting forum, frequented by highly experienced numismatists all the way to beginners. Replies are often to the point regarding the coin. Often, new people will not be clear in what they are asking about a coin. This will garner commentary not always perceived as kind. Relax, nothing personal..... Cheers, RickO
